Local Music Takes To The Stage at Aloft Singapore Novena

Listening to music requires more than just your ears. When the band arrives, you watch them ascend the stage under the cover of dark, the lay down their pedal board, unzip the guitar case, set up the stands and equipment. A dim white light flicks on as they check something on the phone. Then, the house light adjusts for the performance and the platform belongs to them, alone.

With no walls or partitions, the wall’s open concept entices more than just music lovers to join in the fun on Tuesdays: 18:00 ~ 21:00 and Fridays and Saturdays: 19:30 ~ 21:10. The genre spanning acts sees everything from jazz to classic rock where one can sing on to Journey’s ” Don’t Stop Believing” or sway to Gershwin’s “Summertime”. The seating area cosy but do come early as the sofa seats fill out quickly but not to worry as there is counter top seating along the side where the bar is located or standing room at the back near the registration counters, just at the front door. Getting settled is really easy, especially with a wide range of cocktails and tasty bites. I had the crispy fried cauliflower bites and crab meat tacos, washed down with several cocktails – all reasonably priced for an extremely pleasant evening.
