[Review] OPPO Reno12 Pro 5G: A Mid-Range Smartphone Featuring A Blend of AI Innovation and Style

The OPPO Reno12 Pro 5G has recently launched in Singapore, bringing an exciting mix of AI-powered innovative features and stylish design to the market. Positioned as a mid-range smartphone retailing for under $1,000, it is designed to offer a robust set of features without the hefty price tag.

First impressions matter and the Reno12 Pro scores high for this, boasting a futuristic design with a smooth, almost fluid aesthetic that feels great in the hand.

OPPO Reno12 Pro 5G in Nebula Silver

Upon unboxing our Nebula Silver review set, the back cover evokes a luminescent cosmic vibe with wavy curves that moves along with lighting. If you prefer your phone to be more understated, it is also available in a matte, Space Brown finish.

Despite its stylish appearance, the Reno12 Pro is built to be durable. With Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 on the front, this phone is designed to withstand drops and scratches, making it ideal for everyday use.

The device comes with a 6.7-inch FHD+ OLED screen that supports a high refresh rate of up to 120Hz. This means that whether you are scrolling through social media, watching videos, or playing games, the visuals are smooth and crisp. The screen’s vibrant colours and deep blacks further enhance the viewing experience.

Photography enthusiasts will appreciate the Reno12 Pro’s advanced camera system. The rear setup includes a 50-megapixel main camera with optical image stabilisation (OIS), a telephoto portrait camera, and an ultra-wide-angle camera, all designed to capture stunning photos in various settings. We found the photography features of the Reno12 to be fairly comprehensive for all purposes. The 50MP selfie camera with autofocus ensures subjects are always in focus, and it is easy to use for video calls, selfies, and creating content for social media.

The Reno12 Pro also comes with an AI Portrait mode, said to enhance facial details and ensure every shot looks professional. Additionally, the AI Eraser 2.0 allows users to remove unwanted objects from photos easily, ensuring every picture is perfect. We are not a big fan of AI-enhanced images, but this will appeal to those who want all your shots captured on camera to be picture-perfect.

Powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 7300 chip, the Reno12 Pro is optimised for efficiency and speed. We tried multitasking between apps, playing games and streaming videos simultaneously and the phone was able to handle it smoothly.

The device comes with up to 12GB of RAM and 512GB of internal storage, providing ample space for all your apps, photos, and videos for general use.

The Reno12 Pro comes with a robust 5000mAh battery that ensures all-day use. With its 80W fast charging feature, you can charge the phone from 1% to 100% in just 46 minutes.

AI Innovative Features

One of the unique features of the Reno12 Pro 5G is its AI-powered capabilities.

With its AI LinkBoost and BeaconLink technology, the phone is said to ensure seamless connectivity even in challenging environments, such as elevators or areas with weak network signals. This feature is particularly useful in Singapore’s dense urban landscape, where network fluctuations occur frequently.

In addition, an AI Smart Image Matting 2.0 feature allows users to creatively edit photos, add emojis, stickers, and different backgrounds without using a separate app. This integration makes photo editing fun and accessible to everyone.

Overall, the OPPO Reno12 Pro 5G offers an impressive combination of style, innovation, and performance, making it a decent choice for anyone looking for a new mid-range smartphone priced under $1000.

Price and Availability

The OPPO Reno12 Pro 5G is available now in Singapore at a retail price of SGD 899. You can purchase it from major electronics retailers such as Courts, Challenger, and Best Denki, as well as online through OPPO’s official website and e-commerce platforms like Lazada and Shopee.
