Casio has just announced the release of a special edition EDIFICE watch, commemorating the 50th anniversary of TOM’S, a legendary Japanese racing team. The new EFS-S641TMS model pays homage to the TOM’S KP47 Starlet, the race car that catapulted TOM’S to fame in the 1970s with its record-setting performances.
Established in 1974, TOM’S quickly rose to prominence in the motorsports world, thanks in large part to the KP47 Starlet’s remarkable achievements, including 22 pole positions, 20 wins, and 3 series championships. As an official partner since 2013, EDIFICE and TOM’S have collaborated once again to create a timepiece that captures the spirit of that iconic car.
The EFS-S641TMS features design elements directly inspired by the KP47 Starlet. The dial and leather band loop incorporate the car’s distinctive white, red, and green colors. The metal band loop mirrors the car’s side mirrors with its tapered shape and uniquely sized holes. The watch face includes inset dials modeled after the TOM’S original Igeta wheels, with a silhouette that allows light to pass through and power the solar-charging system. A honeycomb pattern at the 3 o’clock position reflects the car’s front grille, with a purple hue reminiscent of the engine’s cylinder head cover.
