Scoot, the low-cost subsidiary of Singapore Airlines (SIA), has announced the arrival of its third and fourth Embraer E190-E2 aircraft, set to join the fleet in September and October 2024. The third aircraft, named Jalan-Jalan, and the fourth, named Travel Kaki, mark an exciting expansion for the airline.
With the addition of these new aircraft, Scoot is set to launch flights to two new Southeast Asian destinations: Kertajati (Greater Bandung) in Indonesia and Malacca in Malaysia.
Kertajati Flights
Starting on 28 September 2024, Scoot will operate twice-weekly flights to Kertajati. This destination, known for its lush forests, natural waterfalls, and captivating wildlife, is perfect for nature enthusiasts. Travelers can also explore the nearby metropolitan area of Greater Bandung to enjoy local culture and architectural gems.
Malacca Flights
Beginning 23 October 2024, Scoot will serve Malacca with five-times weekly flights. Malacca offers a rich Peranakan cultural heritage, authentic Nonya cuisine, bustling night markets, and historical buildings, earning its status as a UNESCO World Heritage city.
Expanded Services with the E190-E2
In addition to the new destinations, Scoot will deploy the E190-E2s on several existing routes:
- Pekanbaru: Twice-weekly flights on the E190-E2, alongside thrice-weekly flights on the Airbus A320.
- Balikpapan and Makassar: Increased frequency from three to four-times weekly starting October 2024.
- Davao: Increased frequency from seven to nine-times weekly starting November 2024.
- Vientiane: Increased frequency from three to four-times weekly starting December 2024.
Enhanced Network Coverage
Scoot recently announced the addition of Subang, Malaysia, to its network, effective 1 September 2024. Located just 28 kilometers from Kuala Lumpur, Subang provides a convenient alternative gateway to the Malaysian capital.
By October 2024, Scoot will operate 78 weekly flights to Indonesia and 115 weekly flights to Malaysia. By November 2024, the airline will offer 37 weekly flights to the Philippines, and by December 2024, four weekly flights to Laos. This expansion brings Scoot’s network to 72 destinations, enhancing direct connections to non-metro cities across Southeast Asia and reinforcing Singapore’s status as a regional air hub.
