Standard Chartered Singapore Marathon Chooses Anderson Bridge as 2024 Finish Line

Participants in the 2024 Standard Chartered Singapore Marathon (SCSM) are set to experience a thrilling new finish line at the iconic Anderson Bridge. Over 30,000 runners have already registered for this highly-anticipated World Athletics Gold Label race, renowned for its scenic routes and vibrant community participation. The marathon will start at the F1 Pit Building and conclude at Anderson Bridge, a National Monument celebrated for its historical architecture, cultural significance, and engineering excellence.

A Spectacular New Finish Line

This year’s race will offer participants a memorable run through Singapore’s landmarks, culminating in a grand finale at the Padang. This location, last used as the finish line in 2017, is nestled in the heart of the Civic District and surrounded by important landmarks such as City Hall, the old Supreme Court building, and the Singapore Cricket Club. Anderson Bridge, a key part of Singapore’s colonial history, has hosted public events like the National Day Parade and the annual Formula One Singapore Grand Prix. The bridge provides convenient access with ample public transportation options and a scenic setting along the Singapore River, flanked by the Fullerton Hotel and the Esplanade.

What’s New This Year

SCSM 2024 will reintroduce the Ekiden Race, where teams of five runners will complete sections of the marathon course. In support of the community, Standard Chartered will offer 100 complimentary Ekiden slots on a first-come-first-served basis to corporate teams committed to fundraising for Futuremakers by Standard Chartered, a global youth economic empowerment initiative. Corporate teams must create a Giving.sg campaign page with their company’s name and set a fundraising goal. Funds raised will go to the Community Chest to support Futuremakers-themed programs and projects.

Additionally, this year’s Kids Dash will feature two exciting distances: a 600-meter dash for children aged 0-6 years and a 900-meter dash for those aged 7-12 years. Designed to inspire the next generation of runners, the event promotes fun and fitness in a supportive and energetic environment, encouraging healthy habits from an early age.

Gearing Up for SCSM 2024

As training season approaches, SCSM will conduct eight community training runs starting from August 31, led by official race pacers. Singapore Sports Hub and Gardens by the Bay will host these training sessions, open to the public, helping SCSM participants and the wider community train for long-distance running and achieve their fitness goals.

SCSM 2024’s three-day event will kick off with the Kids Dash on Friday, November 29, followed by the 5 km and 10 km runs on Saturday, November 30. The half marathon and marathon categories will flag off on Sunday, December 1, with Ekiden teams running alongside marathoners.
