Wild Turkey, the iconic Kentucky bourbon whiskey brand under Campari Group, has announced the release of three limited-edition expressions from its highly coveted Master’s Keep Series. This launch coincides with the debut of the latest addition to the series, Master’s Keep Triumph, marking a significant celebration of Kentucky rye whiskey. Triumph, a 10-year-old small batch rye, is the oldest age-stated rye created by Master Distiller Eddie Russell, underscoring Wild Turkey’s commitment to pushing the boundaries of traditional bourbon-making.
Master’s Keep Triumph joins the ranks of Unforgotten (2022) and Voyage (2023), completing a trio that showcases Wild Turkey’s innovative spirit. Each release highlights the brand’s dedication to refining the craft of bourbon and rye whiskey.
Master’s Keep Unforgotten is a harmonious blend of straight bourbon and rye whiskies, aged in rye casks for a secondary maturation period in the historic Rickhouse B. This unique expression features flavors of caramel, sweet oak, dried fruit, and honey, with a finish of black pepper and warm baking spices.
Master’s Keep Voyage was crafted in collaboration with Dr. Joy Spence of Jamaica’s Appleton Estate rum. This expression blends the rich caramel undertones of Wild Turkey’s extra-aged bourbons with the tropical notes of Appleton Estate’s 14-year-old pot still rum casks. The result is a bourbon with notes of vanilla, oak, molasses, rum cake, and allspice, offering a warm, long-lasting finish with hints of chocolate and spice.
Master’s Keep Triumph pays homage to the contemporary revival of rye whiskey. A 10-year-old rye aged to perfection, Triumph boasts a complex flavor profile with notes of sweet honey, clove, dark chocolate, dates, and spice. Its rich mocha finish and aromas of vanilla, crème brûlée, and mint make it a standout in the Master’s Keep lineup.
Wild Turkey’s story began with the Ripy brothers, who built their family distillery along the Kentucky River in 1869. The brand’s reputation grew rapidly, culminating in a showcase at the World’s Fair in 1893. Despite setbacks during Prohibition, Wild Turkey rebounded and flourished under the guidance of legendary Master Distiller Jimmy Russell. His contributions, including the creation of the world’s first bourbon liqueur and the first barrel proof bourbon, earned him a place in the Kentucky Hall of Fame.
Eddie Russell, Jimmy’s son, continues the family legacy as Master Distiller, with his son Bruce joining the ranks as an Associate Blender. Together, they embody the spirit of innovation and tradition that defines Wild Turkey.
To celebrate the release of Triumph, Wild Turkey has partnered with Neon Pigeon to offer a cocktail trio from July 18 to September 18, 2024. The featured cocktails include:
