As the summer travel season hits its peak, Trip.com reports a significant uptick in bookings across Europe. This surge is largely driven by a major international sporting event set to begin in Paris in late July. Singaporean travellers are among the top five Asia-Pacific tourists heading to Paris this summer, with overall bookings up 12% year-on-year.
Paris Remains a Top Destination, but Singaporeans Explore Beyond
Paris continues to be the favorite French city for Singaporean travellers, with iconic attractions like the Louvre Museum, Palais Garnier, the Eiffel Tower, and Disneyland Paris drawing crowds. Hotel bookings in Paris have grown 17% year-on-year, with many Singaporeans opting to stay near the Eiffel Tower or the Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport. There’s also been a notable 420% year-on-year increase in sustainable travel options, particularly train bookings within Paris.
However, Singaporean travellers are not limiting themselves to Paris. There’s an 85% rise in hotel bookings in smaller French cities this summer, as more travellers seek new cultural experiences. Nice in the French Riviera and Lyon, a UNESCO World Heritage site, are top choices on their travel lists.
Increased Travel Expenditure Among Singaporean Travellers
Travel bookings from Singapore to France have increased 19% year-on-year. Most of these travellers are aged between 25 and 44, with their travel budgets allocated as follows: 52% on flights, 34% on hotels, and 14% on trains. There’s a growing preference for luxury accommodation, evidenced by a 10% increase in bookings for 5-star hotels in France.
Europe Remains a Favored Destination
Beyond France, other European countries remain popular among Singaporean travellers. The United Kingdom, Italy, Germany, and Switzerland are also top destinations this summer.
This surge in travel highlights the ongoing passion for exploring new cultures and destinations among Singaporean travellers, especially as they seek out both classic attractions and new experiences across Europe.
