The Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB) is unveiling an exciting new campaign aimed at showcasing the lesser-known treasures of Hong Kong. Launched on July 9, 2024, this initiative invites visitors to explore beyond the city’s iconic skyline and vibrant streets, uncovering hidden gems that offer unique and memorable experiences.
HKTB has curated a list of 12 hidden gems, categorized into four themes: Nature & Adventure, Arts & Culture, Shop & Play, and Food & Drink. Here’s a glimpse of what awaits:
Nature & Adventure
- Peng Chau: A car-free island perfect for scenic hikes and cultural exploration.
- Cheung Chau: Known for its annual Bun Festival, this island offers beautiful beaches, historical sites, and delicious local food.
- Red Incense Burner Summit: A short hike providing panoramic views of Hong Kong Island and Victoria Harbour.
- Mai Po Nature Reserve: A haven for bird watchers, this wetland reserve hosts a variety of bird species and guided tours.
Arts & Culture
- Tsz Shan Monastery: A serene retreat in Tai Po featuring a towering bronze-cast Guan Yin statue and Hong Kong’s first Buddhist art museum.
- Aberdeen Tour: Experience Hong Kong’s maritime heritage with a tour of Aberdeen’s fisherman wharf and floating village.
Shop & Play
- Mahjong Workshop: Learn the art of mahjong tile coloring from Master Ricky Cheung at Karen Aruba Studio.
- Neon Sign Workshop: Create your own neon sign at Amazing Neon HK and take home a unique souvenir.
- The Mills: A revitalized textile factory turned arts and innovation center, offering craft workshops and local artist exhibits.

- Tai Ping Koon: One of the oldest Western restaurants in Hong Kong, offering a blend of Western and Chinese cuisine.

Summer Triple Rewards
In conjunction with the campaign, HKTB is launching the “Summer Triple Rewards” promotion, offering over HK$100 million in rewards for overnight visitors. Starting from July 11, 2024, visitors can enjoy savings from over 100 merchants, including airlines, attractions, dining, retail, shopping malls, and travel agents. Additionally, HKTB will install summer-themed decorations across key locations to enhance the city’s festive atmosphere.
