The seventh edition of the Skechers Friendship Walk, held on 8 June at OCBC Square, Singapore Sports Hub, drew its largest crowd yet, with 5,000 participants.
The event featured a special appearance by Singaporean singer and Skechers Singapore Brand Ambassador, Qiu Feng Ze, and a donation of $10,000 by Skechers to APSN, s a social service agency that provides special education, vocational training and employment support services for individuals with mild intellectual disability, for purchasing shoes for its beneficiaries.
The Skechers Race Village opened at 3pm, welcoming enthusiastic participants ready to celebrate camaraderie with their families, friends, and pets. The event featured four categories: a 10km competitive individual run, a 4km leisure individual run, a buddy run, and a family run.
Skechers Family and Friends Gather
With the largest turnout since its inception in 2018, the Skechers Friendship Walk provided a platform for the Skechers community to strengthen familial bonds and friendships.
“As we gather here with our friends and families, I am reminded of the incredible power of friendship and community,” shared Zann Lee. She expressed pride in raising $10,000 for APSN beneficiaries.
Event Highlights and Special Appearances
Mediacorp personality Hazelle Teo hosted the event for the second year, energising the crowd. Singaporean singer Qiu Feng Ze made his first appearance as Skechers Singapore Brand Ambassador, sharing his excitement and upcoming projects. Four fans participated in a game to identify shoes described by their idol.
Singaporean artists Edmund Chen, Lee Teng, and Dennis Chew were also present, sporting Skechers GOwalk 7 and Skechers Max Cushioning shoes, known for their ULTRA GO cushioning and Air-Cooled Goga Mat insoles.
A 12m long photo wall displayed the names of all 5,000 participants, creating a memorable photo opportunity symbolising the collective effort behind the event.
Fostering an Inclusive Community
Skechers reinforced its commitment to inclusivity with its support for APSN. For every Skechers Friendship Walk sign-up, Skechers donated $2 to APSN, raising $10,000 for purchasing shoes for beneficiaries.
APSN Centre for Adults showcased baked goods, mixed nuts, and handmade crafts, with proceeds supporting vocational training and employment services. Beneficiaries Alexavier Ang and Samuel Lee performed for the crowd, demonstrating their talents.
Entertainment and Activities
Local buskers, including Danial, Murphy, Jeff Ng, Little Band Plus, and 11-year-old Lyla Ng, performed live music. TikTok content creators Simonboy and Tommy entertained with comedic acts.
Participants engaged in various games like the Skechers Hyper Pillar Challenge, Arcade Basketball, Human Foosball, Speed Pitch Cage, and Jumbo Buzzer. The most popular game was the Skechers Hyper Pillar Challenge, testing agility and coordination.
Celebrating Achievements
The top three winners of the 10km competitive run were announced. In the men’s category, Gordon Lim, 31, won with a time of 33:58, followed by Raymond Sng, 26, with 35:49, and Li Jingjie, 39, with 36:20. In the women’s category, Maki Inami, 43, won with a time of 35:59, followed by Verna Goh, 30, with 41:21, and Jessy Fung, 52, with 44:19.
The grand prize of a year’s supply of Skechers footwear worth $1,500 went to Choy Seng Fatt, 55.
