The Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB) and Art Basel have announced an exciting new three-year global partnership, marking a significant milestone as HKTB becomes the first tourism organization to partner with Art Basel on a global scale. This collaboration, unveiled during Art Basel’s press conference in Basel, will extend beyond Hong Kong to all Art Basel shows worldwide, starting with Art Basel Paris in October.
As part of this strategic alliance, HKTB will serve as a Show Partner of Art Basel, bringing Hong Kong’s rich art and culture to the global stage. Over the next three years, HKTB will feature prominently in four annual shows, including Art Basel in Paris, Miami Beach, Hong Kong, and Basel. Each show will present unique thematic experiences or activations, showcasing the vibrant and dynamic cultural heritage of Hong Kong.
Art Basel debuted in Hong Kong in 2013, and since 2020, HKTB has collaborated with the fair on several successful projects. In March of this year, the tourism board and Art Basel teamed up to create a local “Cha Chaan Teng” experience, highlighting Hong Kong’s vibrant living culture. Visitors enjoyed local delicacies such as iconic pineapple buns and milk tea in a colorful, purpose-built cha chaan teng (Hong Kong-style café), offering a firsthand experience of Hong Kong’s unique East-meets-West heritage.
The three-year partnership will commence with Art Basel Paris, taking place at the Grand Palais from October 18-20, 2024. This event will set the stage for an exciting series of cultural showcases, celebrating Hong Kong’s artistic contributions on a global platform.
