Republic of Gamers (ROG) has announced the launch of the ROG Ally X, a new iteration of its popular ROG Ally handheld game console. Engineered for optimal Windows 11 gaming on the move, the ROG Ally X retains the powerful AMD Ryzen Z1 Extreme processor while introducing significant upgrades in storage, RAM, battery life, and an updated chassis for better ergonomics, cooling, and connectivity. Enhanced with Armoury Crate SE 1.5, the ROG Ally X aims to elevate your gaming experience, allowing you to #playALLYourgames better than ever.
Listening to user feedback, ROG has significantly boosted the internal components of the ROG Ally X. The new model features a 1 TB SSD, doubling the storage capacity of the original Ally. It also incorporates a redesigned motherboard with an M.2 2280 form factor slot, making storage upgrades easier than ever.
The device comes with 24 GB of DDR5-7500 RAM, providing greater flexibility and performance. Given that the AMD Ryzen Z1 Extreme shares its video RAM with the system RAM, this upgrade allows for better allocation of memory to both the system and the GPU, enhancing performance in next-gen AAA titles.
An 80 Wh battery powers the ROG Ally X, doubling the capacity of the previous model and enabling extended gaming sessions away from power outlets. Despite the larger battery, the ROG Ally X remains lightweight at 678 grams, with a balanced weight distribution for comfortable handling during long gaming sessions.
The ROG Ally X features a sleek new black chassis with deeper handles and a more rounded shape for improved comfort. The buttons and sticks are ergonomically arranged, with slanted triggers for easier pressing and smaller macro buttons to minimize accidental presses.
The joysticks have been upgraded with more durable modules rated for a 5-million-cycle lifespan and stiffer springs for a familiar response to controller gamers. The D-Pad has also been refined for more precise eight-direction input, ideal for fighting and retro games.
Addressing user requests for better connectivity, the ROG Ally X replaces the original XG Mobile port with two USB-C ports, one of which is Thunderbolt-compatible, ensuring broad compatibility with third-party docks and external GPUs.
To support the new battery, the ROG Ally X is equipped with 23% smaller fans featuring 50% thinner blades to enhance airflow. Additional tunnels in the fan housing direct air toward a third exhaust vent on the upper edge, increasing air volume by 24%. This advanced cooling system not only keeps internal components cool but also maintains the touch screen up to 6°C cooler, ensuring comfortable long-term use.
Details on availability and pricing will be announced at a later date.
