Skyscanner Unveils Savings Generator Tool to Help Singapore Travellers Save Big on Summer Trips

Skyscanner launches its new Savings Generator tool, designed to help Singaporean travellers save on their holidays. According to the latest research by the global travel app, over 80% of Singaporeans plan to travel this summer, yet 35% have not booked their trips. The primary reasons include indecision about dates (58%) and destinations (46%). Many travellers are on the lookout for great value deals, with 41% still searching for the best prices and 23% waiting for last-minute offers.

The Rise of “Loud Budgeting”

In line with the global trend of #loudbudgeting on TikTok, 71% of Singaporean travellers are adopting a more budget-conscious approach to their summer holidays this year, moving away from the “Quiet Luxury” trend. To support this shift, Skyscanner’s Savings Generator provides valuable insights on how to maximize travel budgets.

How the Savings Generator Works

The Savings Generator tool offers users:

  • Average Monthly Prices: Visualizes the best times to book for popular destinations.
  • Best Time to Book Trends: Provides data on when to secure the cheapest flights based on an analysis of millions of bookings over the past 18 months.
  • Cheaper Destination Suggestions: Recommends alternative destinations that offer better value for money.

Timing Your Travel

For those unsure about when to travel, Skyscanner’s Savings Generator identifies the cheapest weeks to visit top destinations this summer. The tool helps travellers find the lowest prices by showing how fares vary around the best booking times for the most popular routes.

Last-Minute Deals

For the 41% of travellers waiting for last-minute deals, the Savings Generator highlights the best options for spontaneous summer breaks. This feature ensures that even late planners can secure affordable flights.

Planning Ahead for Year-End Holidays

Looking ahead to the end-of-year holidays, the Savings Generator also reveals the best times to book for a December getaway, helping travellers plan their winter vacations well in advance.

Still Time for Summer Deals

Despite the peak season, there are still bargains to be found. Skyscanner’s algorithm can find the cheapest deals by simply searching ‘Everywhere’ with your travel dates. Notably, there are return flights available from Singapore to Malaysia for as low as $82, Thailand from $98, and China from $184 this June.

Singaporeans’ Travel Habits

Singaporeans are known for their deal-driven travel habits, with 78% of respondents stating they would book more than one summer holiday if the price was right. However, 36% are unaware that there are cheaper weeks to travel during the summer months.

For those who haven’t booked their summer vacation yet or are considering a second trip, Skyscanner’s Savings Generator can help find the best deals, ensuring Singaporean travellers get the most value from their summer holidays.
