The eagerly awaited anime adaptation of Inio Asano’s dystopian sci-fi manga, “Dead Dead Demons Dededede Destruction,” is set to premiere on Crunchyroll’s spring lineup starting May 24. After debuting in Japan as a two-part film—with Part 1 released on March 22 and Part 2 arriving on May 24—the series will now be available to stream in over 200 countries and territories worldwide. The new 18-episode television adaptation will feature brand-new footage, with episodes releasing weekly from May 24 at 11:00 AM SGT.
Nominated for an Eisner Award in 2019 and recognized at San Diego Comic-Con 2018 as one of the year’s Best New Manga, “Dead Dead Demons Dededede Destruction” is a critically acclaimed graphic novel by Inio Asano, known for “Goodnight Punpun.” Published by Shogakukan from 2014 to 2022, the manga has sold over three million copies.
The world is threatened by the sudden appearance of a mysterious alien mothership. Amidst this crisis, best friends Kadode Koyama and Oran “Ontan” Nakagawa navigate their high school lives. As they grow, they confront existential questions and the complexities of adulthood, realizing the true threat may not be from above.

The anime will also feature the original movie theme song “ZeZeZeZettai Seiiki” performed by ano featuring Lilas Ikuta. Additionally, Lilas Ikuta, known as ikura, is a singer-songwriter and vocalist of the popular music group YOASOBI, whose songs have been hits in various anime series.
