In a move to meet the overwhelming demand from the public, the Singapore Turf Club (STC) has announced the addition of more sessions for its “Capturing Our Beauty” photo walks. These walks are a part of the Club’s efforts to engage with the community in anticipation of its final race on October 5, 2024.
The initial announcement of the photo walks on April 4, 2024, generated tremendous interest, leading to oversubscription and closure of registrations for the first round of sessions scheduled from May to June 2024.
Responding to this surge in interest, STC will now offer five additional slots from June to August 2024. These sessions will focus on different themes including Architecture, Racing, and Flora and Fauna, providing participants with a unique perspective on the Club’s heritage and surroundings. Each session will last approximately two hours and will begin with an introduction to STC’s history, racing heritage, and an overview of the grounds.
Renowned Singaporean photographers Lee Aik Soon and Lee Yik Keat will lead the sessions, acting as guides and mentors. Participants will have the opportunity to learn photography techniques and gain insights into the significance of the subjects along the routes.
The themes of the photo walks are as follows:
Architecture: Explore the STC’s history through its world-class racetracks and grandstands, capturing the timeless elegance and meticulous design details.
Flora and Fauna: Discover the rich biodiversity thriving within the Club’s expansive grounds during a guided exploration.
Racing: Experience the electrifying atmosphere of a race day firsthand, capturing the excitement and thrill of competition.
The initiative will conclude with a photo competition, inviting entries from participants of the photo walks as well as the wider public. Cash prizes ranging from $50 to $500 will be awarded to winning entries, which will also be displayed at a photo exhibition launching on the final race day, October 5, 2024. Submissions for the competition, limited to three digital photographs per entry, can be made on STC’s website. Winners will be announced in September 2024 by a judging panel comprising Aik Soon, Yik Keat, and STC representatives.
With the expansion of the “Capturing Our Beauty” photo walks and the upcoming photo competition, STC aims to provide an immersive experience for participants while celebrating the Club’s heritage and engaging with the wider community.
