OPPO recently unveiled its latest flagship smartwatch, the OPPO Watch X, promising a blend of advanced fitness tracking, industry-leading endurance, and seamless connectivity. Boasting dual-frequency GPS, extensive fitness monitoring features, and a robust suite of health tracking capabilities, the OPPO Watch X aims to be a trusted companion for users seeking to elevate their daily routines.
The OPPO Watch X launch event, held in Bangkok, Thailand, highlighted the smartwatch’s emphasis on accuracy in fitness tracking. Featuring dual-frequency GPS technology, the OPPO Watch X can receive both L1 and L5 GPS signals, ensuring precise positioning during various activities such as running, cycling, and hiking, even in environments with poor GPS coverage. This accuracy is further enhanced by high-precision sensors, including accelerometers and gyroscopes, ensuring consistent data tracking for more precise measurements.
One standout feature of the OPPO Watch X is its automatic sports recognition, which can identify activities like walking, running, cycling, swimming, and even specific sports like badminton. The device goes a step further with running posture recognition, providing real-time feedback to improve safety and performance for running enthusiasts.
In addition to its comprehensive fitness tracking capabilities, the OPPO Watch X offers advanced health monitoring features, including sleep tracking, heart rate monitoring, and stress level analysis. Users can access detailed insights into their sleep patterns, heart rate variability, and stress levels, empowering them to make informed decisions about their well-being.
Powered by Wear OS, the OPPO Watch X seamlessly integrates with Google apps and services, offering users access to a wide range of functionalities, from Google Assistant to Google Maps and Google Pay. Fast Pairing enables quick connectivity with Android smartphones, allowing users to manage calls, messages, and music playback directly from their wrist.
One of the key highlights of the OPPO Watch X is its industry-leading endurance, thanks to its dual-engine architecture and efficient power management. With up to 100 hours of battery life in Smart Mode and up to 12 days in Power Saver Mode, users can enjoy extended usage without the hassle of frequent charging.
Design-wise, the OPPO Watch X features a sleek stainless steel chassis with a 1.43-inch AMOLED display, protected by a sapphire crystal cover for durability. The watch meets MIL-STD-810H military standards for durability and is rated IP68 for dust and water resistance, making it suitable for various environments and activities.
We like that OPPO watches can be charged with a USB C cable via an adaptor. A major bugbear I often have with smartwatches is the need for a dedicated charging cable and connected port which makes it extra cumbersome when traveling.
Overall, the OPPO Watch X exudes a luxurious charm upon unboxing with its sturdy watch body and elegant round frame. The necessary functionalities to track GPS, exercises and sleep are all there, with elevated features from the usual smartphones. Price is reasonable for a flagship model and this provides a great alternative to the overhyped Apple Watch Series 9 at a lower price.
Available in two colors, Platinum Black and Mars Brown, the OPPO Watch X is priced at S$499 and is available for purchase from various channels, including the OPPO Official Online Store, concept stores, and authorised retailers.
