Marina Bay Sands Announces Final Design Enhancements for Multi-Billion-Dollar Expansion

Exciting developments are underway as Marina Bay Sands announces the final phase of design enhancements for its multi-billion-dollar expansion project. Anticipated to commence full-scale construction by July 2025, with a targeted completion date of July 2029, the expansion promises to elevate Singapore’s tourism and entertainment landscape to new heights.

Led by Safdie Architects, the visionary minds behind the existing property, the expansion project will introduce a host of luxurious amenities and state-of-the-art facilities. Among the highlights is a magnificent luxury hotel tower featuring a sky roof, a cutting-edge 15,000-seat entertainment arena, and additional premium MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences & Exhibitions) space. Additionally, new culinary and nightlife offerings will further enhance the resort’s allure.

At the heart of the expansion lies the world-class arena, poised to become Asia’s premier live entertainment venue. Designed to deliver unparalleled hospitality experiences, the arena aims to attract top entertainers from Asia and beyond, broadening Singapore’s appeal as a destination for world-class entertainment.

Marina Bay Sands’ expansion is expected to play a pivotal role in driving inbound travel to Singapore. The addition of the arena and expanded MICE facilities will position the city-state as a preferred destination for international events and entertainment, attracting a diverse range of visitors from around the globe.

Separate from the expansion project is a substantial reinvestment of US$1.75 billion in the existing property. This comprehensive reinvestment, the largest since Marina Bay Sands’ inauguration in 2010, has already seen the refurbishment of Hotel Towers 1 and 2, along with the introduction of new dining options and luxury amenities tailored for discerning travelers. Ongoing refurbishment efforts will focus on Hotel Tower 3, the Hotel Lobby, and Sands SkyPark, with plans for a reimagined VIP arrival experience, enhanced dining and retail offerings, lobby transformation, and an emphasis on wellness experiences for guests.

Since its inception in 2010, Marina Bay Sands has been a cornerstone of Singapore’s tourism sector, welcoming over 470 million visitors and hosting more than 1,750 new-to-Singapore MICE events. The integrated resort has not only bolstered the city’s business tourism appeal but has also contributed significantly to the local economy through job creation and support for small- and medium-sized enterprises. With over 11,500 Team Members currently employed, the expansion is poised to create even more opportunities for employment and growth in the years ahead.
