Vietjet has made waves at the esteemed Singapore Airshow 2024 with a series of groundbreaking agreements. The company has inked major deals with industry giants Airbus, Rolls-Royce, RTX’s Pratt & Whitney, and Safran, aimed at fortifying its fleet and expanding its flight network, all while emphasizing safety, efficiency, and sustainability.
Vietjet and Airbus have formalized a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the acquisition of 20 A330neo (A330-900) widebody aircraft, marking one of the most significant agreements of the Singapore Airshow 2024. This substantial investment underscores Vietjet’s dedication to enhancing its flight network and modernizing its fleet.
The A330neo planes, slated for operation on Vietjet’s expanding long-range network and high-capacity regional services, will replace the carrier’s current leased A330-300s while facilitating network expansion. Designed for efficiency and aligned with Vietjet’s sustainable development strategy, the advanced A330neo aims for net-zero emissions by 2050, promising passengers longer-range, well-equipped flights with exceptional service at competitive fares.
Powered by Rolls-Royce Trent 7000 engines, the A330neo boasts an award-winning Airspace cabin, ensuring a comfortable travel experience with modern amenities.
Vietjet has also forged a commitment with Rolls-Royce for 20 Trent 7000-powered A330neo aircraft, complementing the airline’s existing widebody fleet. With a focus on sustainability, the Trent 7000 engines promise a 14% improvement in fuel burn per seat and significant emissions reduction, aligning with Vietjet’s responsible expansion plans.
As these engines power Vietjet’s latest generation of Airbus A330neo, they will elevate the airline’s widebody fleet, enhancing flight quality, operational reliability, and efficiency.
Vietjet has exercised options for an additional 19 firm GTF-powered A321neo aircraft from Pratt & Whitney, solidifying its partnership with the engine manufacturer. Vietjet’s confidence in Pratt & Whitney’s technology underscores the environmental benefits and fuel efficiency of GTF-powered aircraft. With this expansion, Vietjet’s commitment to the GTF engine extends to 87 aircraft, further enhancing its growing fleet.
The Pratt & Whitney GTF engines will provide Vietjet with some of the lowest fuel consumption and emissions in the region.
Vietjet and Safran Aerosystems have unveiled a strategic partnership for the supply of safety equipment on Vietjet’s B737MAX aircraft. This collaboration aims to elevate safety standards across Vietjet’s operations with innovative solutions and state-of-the-art safety equipment.
With a fleet of over 105 aircraft and a growing passenger volume, Vietjet is actively expanding its flight network across Vietnam and international destinations. Through strategic partnerships with industry leaders, Vietjet continues to provide passengers with the best flying experience at competitive costs.
