The Eastern & Oriental Express, A Belmond Train, Southeast Asia, is back with a bang, promising travelers an unforgettable experience as it chugs back into Singapore with a slew of exciting updates. Leading the charge is the appointment of Chef André Chiang, a culinary maestro boasting two Michelin stars and a spot in the World’s 50 Best Restaurants list, as its new Culinary Curator. With his innovative touch, Chef Chiang aims to create a dining experience that pays homage to the diverse terroir of Southeast Asia.
Guests onboard can anticipate a culinary journey like no other, with dishes such as Laksa Bouillabaisse, Black-bone Chicken Consommé, and Jungle Spices Cacao Ganache gracing their palates. Meanwhile, at the Piano Bar Carriage and Observation Car, guests can indulge in botanical-inspired libations and vintage cocktails crafted by global hospitality consultancy, The Cocktail Professor, alongside an array of beverages ranging from local craft beers to artisanal Malaysian coffees.
Adding to the allure is the exclusive Veuve Clicquot Solaire Journey, a bespoke experience in collaboration with the renowned Champagne Maison. Inspired by the pioneering spirit of Madame Clicquot and the joie de vivre embodied by the champagne’s yellow label, this journey promises champagne tastings led by Veuve Clicquot’s Cellar Master, Didier Mariotti, and bespoke dishes curated by Chef André Chiang to complement the maison’s prestigious vintages, including the La Grande Dame series. Set against the backdrop of Malaysia’s stunning landscapes and the ancient Taman Negara National Park, this journey is slated to run from April 22nd to 25th, 2024.
In March, the Eastern and Oriental Express will unveil its new Wild Malaysia itinerary, offering guests an immersive experience into the heart of nature. Excursions into Taman Negara National Park will include educational tours, wildlife photography classes, and explorations of ancient caves. Additionally, a special Tiger Express journey in May, created in partnership with Save Wild Tigers, aims to raise awareness about the conservation efforts to save the Malay Tiger from extinction.
The revamped Eastern & Oriental Express features eight luxurious sleeping carriages, two restaurants, a Piano Bar, and an open-air Observation Car. Each cabin, from Pullman to Presidential Suites, is designed to reflect the landscapes it travels through, offering guests a sensory journey through customisable elements, scents, lights, playlists, teas, and premium bedding. Daytime encounters with locals are complemented by nightly entertainment, featuring resident musicians and special acts, promising an enchanting journey from start to finish.
