Love is in the air, and Tinder’s latest revelations prove that romance is far from dead, especially on Valentine’s Day. Contrary to popular belief, young singles are enthusiastically embracing the holiday, with a surge in activity on the world’s most popular dating app.
As the New Year, New Boo peak season comes to a close, Tinder has reported a significant uptick in matches and engagement, particularly among the younger demographic. Last year’s Valentine’s Day saw a remarkable 10% increase in overall matches compared to an average day. Even more impressive was the 17% surge in activity among 18-25-year-old users globally.
According to Tinder’s data, there was a staggering increase of 30 million likes sent per day on average, with a whopping 70% of that increase originating from 18-25-year-old users. It’s clear that young singles are actively seeking connections, making Valentine’s Day a prime opportunity to find love or companionship.
The lead-up to Valentine’s Day witnesses a flurry of activity on Tinder, with a peak in user engagement occurring four days before the holiday. The busiest hours for swiping and matching typically fall between 9 and 10 pm local time, indicating that singles are prioritizing their romantic pursuits as the day approaches.
Tinder’s latest Year in Swipe report suggests that the dating landscape in 2024 will continue to prioritize experiences over outcomes. Dubbed “N.A.T.O Dating” (Not Attached To Outcomes), singles are less concerned with defining the trajectory of their relationships and more focused on creating meaningful connections and memorable experiences.
Embracing Valentine’s Day in a fun and low-pressure manner aligns perfectly with this ethos, giving singles the opportunity to channel their inner main character and seize the day. Whether it’s finding a new flame or simply enjoying the festivities with friends, Tinder users are poised to make the most of Valentine’s Day and all its romantic possibilities.
