In an exciting development for travelers, Cathay Pacific has opened its first-ever lounge outside an airport at the Shekou Cruise Home Port in Shenzhen. This new ferry lounge signifies a significant step forward in enhancing the intermodal travel experience for customers and strengthening sea-to-air connectivity between Hong Kong International Airport and the Greater Bay Area.
Cathay Pacific’s Group Chief Executive Officer, Ronald Lam, and Chief Customer and Commercial Officer, Lavinia Lau, marked the momentous occasion alongside esteemed guests at the opening ceremony on January 18. The event was graced by Deputy Director Li Lirong of the HKMAO of the Shenzhen Municipal People’s Government, Director Grace Lai Sui-king of the Shenzhen Liaison Unit of the Hong Kong SAR Government, Division Director Zhang Zhenyang of the Tourism Marketing & Promotion Division, and Deputy Division Director Fan Weiqing of the Port Customs Administration Office, among others.
With a vision to become the leading premium airline for international travel to and from the extended home market of the Greater Bay Area, Cathay Pacific focuses on providing a diverse range of reliable and convenient intermodal services. This includes air, sea, and land options, offering Greater Bay Area customers seamless connections to Cathay Pacific flights at Hong Kong International Airport.
Cathay Pacific customers can now enjoy a smooth transfer using its codeshare ferry services, linking the Shekou Cruise Home Port directly to the SkyPier Terminal at Hong Kong International Airport. With 11 round-trip ferry services per day, the journey takes a mere 30 minutes, allowing passengers to collect ferry tickets, boarding passes, and through-check their luggage for Cathay Pacific flights to global destinations.
Designed by London-based Studioilse, the lounge mirrors the signature aesthetic featured in Cathay Pacific lounges globally. Passengers can unwind and enjoy the serene atmosphere before their ferry service, all while taking in a breathtaking 270-degree view of the surrounding area, including a glimpse of Hong Kong in the distance.
The Shekou lounge is open to all Cathay Diamond and Gold members, as well as First and Business class customers, Cathay Silver members, and relevant oneworld members traveling on Cathay Pacific flights.
As Cathay Pacific continues to strengthen its position in the Greater Bay Area, the new ferry lounge aligns with the airline’s commitment to providing unparalleled service and connectivity. The opening marks a strategic move to fortify Cathay Pacific’s standing as one of the world’s premier service brands, leveraging its deep roots in Hong Kong, pride in being part of China, and its global connectivity.
