Vietjet is gearing up to meet the surge in travel demand by expanding its fleet with the addition of four wet-leased aircraft. This strategic move aims to enhance operational capacity and provide more affordable flying options for passengers during the bustling holiday season.
Vietjet’s recent acquisition of four wet-leased aircraft comes as the airline prepares to accommodate the heightened travel demand expected during the Lunar New Year peak season. With the Vietnamese government approving a seven-day Lunar New Year holiday break from February 8 to 14, 2024, the country anticipates a significant migration of workers returning to their hometowns for family reunions and an influx of holiday-goers exploring tourist destinations.
The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (CAAV) projects approximately 33,800 flights from January 24 to February 25, 2024, operated by Vietnamese airlines during the peak travel period of the 2024 Lunar New Year. This represents a notable 14% increase compared to the previous year and a substantial 21% increase compared to the regular flight schedule.
Vietjet, currently operating a fleet of 103 aircraft with over 400 daily flights, is set to bolster its operational capacity with the addition of the four wet-leased aircraft, complete with pilots and flight crew. The airline is also taking steps to ensure passenger convenience during this busy period, including the installation of extra check-in kiosks at selected airports. Passengers are encouraged to utilize online check-in to avoid congestion at the airports and ensure a smooth travel experience.
In the spirit of celebration, Vietjet is offering weekly ticket promotions every Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday until February 10, 2024, for all international flights. Customers can book promotional tickets starting from just USD0, with travel dates available until December 31, 2024. As part of a special golden promotional week, Business and SkyBoss tickets come with up to 20% off.
With an expanding international route network, Vietjet connects travelers to diverse destinations, including Shanghai (China), Vientiane (Laos), Siem Reap (Cambodia), Hong Kong (China), Taipei (Taiwan, China), Busan (South Korea), Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth, and Adelaide (Australia). The airline is well-positioned to offer convenient travel opportunities not only for family reunions but also for spring vacations across Vietnam and the world during the Lunar New Year season.
