NETS Introduces Card Exchange Program as Adult Commuter Ticketing System Phases Out

The Network for Electronic Transfers (NETS) has unveiled a card exchange program for its NETS FlashPay Card, responding to the Land Transport Authority’s (LTA) recent announcement about phasing out the existing card-based ticketing system for adult commuters. As of June 1, 2024, NETS FlashPay Card, a stored value card, will no longer be accepted for public transport, and top-ups at ticketing machines will be discontinued.

Smooth Transition with NETS FlashPay Card Exchange Program

From 19 January to 18 July 2024, NETS FlashPay cardholders have the opportunity to exchange their cards for a NETS Prepaid Card at any of the 44 SimplyGo Ticket Offices (formerly known as TransitLink Ticket Offices). During the exchange, the remaining card value will be refunded, and commuters will receive a free NETS Prepaid Card to facilitate their continued travel.

Convenient Features of NETS Prepaid Card

The NETS Prepaid Card offers a range of convenient features for commuters. By linking the card to the NETS App, users can top up on the go, view transaction history, receive alerts for card usage, set daily spending limits, remotely lock the card if misplaced, and initiate a refund process if needed. Additionally, commuters can link their NETS Prepaid Card to the SimplyGo App to access trip details. Beyond transit use, the NETS Prepaid Card can be shared among family members, including dependents such as domestic helpers and the elderly, allowing for efficient expense management via the NETS App. With over 130,000 NETS acceptance points in Singapore, the NETS Prepaid Card also serves as a versatile gift card.

Continued Validity of NETS FlashPay Card for In-Store Purchases and Motorists

While NETS FlashPay Card will no longer be accepted for public transport, it remains valid for in-store purchases at NETS acceptance points. Motorists can also continue using the card or NETS Motoring Card in their current second-generation in-vehicle unit (IU) and the new on-board unit (OBU) for parking and ERP payments.

Identifying NETS FlashPay Card and Refund Options

To identify a NETS FlashPay Card, users can check for the NETS FlashPay logo at the bottom right corner of the card face or on the back of the card. Those seeking a refund on the remaining card value can do so at SimplyGo Ticket Offices during their operating hours until July 18, 2024, or at local bank ATMs or the NETS Customer Service Centre within one year from the card’s expiry date.

NETS aims to make this transition as seamless as possible for commuters, ensuring continued convenience and accessibility in their daily travels.
