Cathay Pacific Partners with Shinsegae Duty Free in Korea

Cathay Pacific, a leading global airline, has made aviation history by becoming the first foreign airline to forge a strategic partnership with Shinsegae Duty Free, one of Korea’s top three duty-free retailers. This groundbreaking collaboration, solidified through a business agreement signed on December 19, 2023, at the Westin Chosun Hotel in Seoul, opens up exciting avenues for Cathay members worldwide.

Global Earning Power: Asia Miles Integration

Starting from February 2024, Cathay Pacific members can now earn Asia Miles – the universal currency for rewards and experiences – when indulging in retail therapy at Shinsegae Duty Free. This partnership is set to enhance Cathay’s positioning as a premium travel lifestyle brand, following the global launch of the master brand ‘Cathay’ earlier this year.

Rewarding Retail Experiences

Under the agreement, Cathay members will earn 1 Asia Mile for every KRW1,000 spent on duty-free purchases at Shinsegae Duty Free. For purchases totaling KRW300,000 or more, an additional 250 Asia Miles will sweeten the deal. These earned miles can be seamlessly redeemed for a myriad of rewards and experiences within Cathay’s extensive network of 800 travel and lifestyle partners worldwide.

Special Discounts and Perks

As a token of appreciation for their loyalty, Cathay members will enjoy exclusive perks, including special discounts, e-vouchers with shopping allowances, and various coupons to splurge on at Shinsegae Duty Free. These shopping delights are valued at approximately KRW340,000, further elevating the travel experience for Cathay Pacific passengers.

Seamless Integration: Online Shopping and Prepaid Cards

To make the experience even more convenient, Cathay members can purchase Shinsegae Duty Free prepaid cards using Asia Miles through Cathay’s online shop. Additionally, all Cathay Pacific passengers bound for Korea will receive a separate e-voucher, enhancing their shopping allowances at Shinsegae Duty Free.

Towards a Thriving Ecosystem

This historic partnership between Cathay Pacific and Shinsegae Duty Free signifies their commitment to building thriving ecosystems. Discussions are already underway for further collaborations, with a focus on expanding the synergies and benefits for both Cathay members and Shinsegae customers alike.
