Embracing the traditional four-day celebration, IHC has curated an exciting lineup of programs on January 6, 7, 13, and 14, 2024, ensuring a vibrant and immersive experience for visitors.

Honoring The Sun: Pongal Open House Theme

This year’s Pongal Open House is themed “The Sun,” paying homage to the warmth, radiance, and pivotal role of sunlight in the cycles of nature and abundant harvests. Visitors can expect a diverse range of activities and cultural explorations during the celebration.

Highlights of the Pongal Open House

Harvest Dance & Storytelling Session: Engage in a hands-on crafts activity and dance as you immerse yourself in the Harvest Dance & Storytelling session, capturing the essence of Pongal’s agricultural significance.

Kranji Farm Tour – A Retreat in Nature: Explore the agricultural roots of Tamil culture in the lap of nature with the Kranji Farm Tour, a unique retreat showcasing the harmony between culture and the environment.

Little India Trail (Celebrity Edition): Led by Instagram and TikTok influencer Darshen Kunaseharan and Mediacorp artist Sajini, embark on a journey around Little India to discover the precinct’s Pongal celebrations and their cultural significance.

Pongal Cooking Demonstration: Delve into the world of culinary delights with Chef Annil Ravindran as he conducts a Pongal Cooking Demonstration, offering insights into the flavors and traditions associated with the festival.

Tanjore Art Workshop – Gilded Paintings Immersive Experience: Unleash your creativity in an immersive Tanjore Art Workshop, exploring the intricate world of gilded paintings and artistic expression.

An Array of Pongal-Themed Delights: Apart from the highlighted programs, visitors can enjoy live music and dance performances, craft activities, karagam-making workshops, traditional games, and much more. For selected programs, registration is required and can be done here. Admission to IHC is free for Singaporeans and Permanent Residents, providing an inclusive and enriching cultural experience.
