Coca-Cola Singapore has unveiled its latest endeavor—introducing 100% recycled plastic bottles (excluding caps and labels) for the first time in the country. Aligned with the company’s ambitious “World Without Waste” strategy, this initiative also marks the launch of a new plastic bottle collection program, aiming to address plastic pollution and enhance recycling efforts in Singapore.
The 100% recycled plastic bottles, making their debut in three 500ml variants—Coca-Cola Original Taste Less Sugar, Coca-Coca Zero Sugar, and Coca-Cola Vanilla—follow Coca-Cola’s introduction of a clear Sprite bottle with 10% recycled plastic in 2020. This move echoes the global trend, with Coca-Cola already offering at least one brand in 100% recycled plastic bottles in over 40 countries, including Indonesia, Myanmar, Vietnam, Thailand, and now Singapore.
Coca-Cola Singapore’s latest initiative aligns with The Coca-Cola Company’s overarching sustainable packaging strategy, aiming to make 100% of its primary consumer packaging globally recyclable by 2025 and utilize a minimum of 50% recycled content in its packaging by 2030. As of 2022, the company reported a commendable 25% use of recycled material in its packaging.
These 100% recycled plastic bottles maintain the high-quality standards expected by consumers, adhering to The Coca-Cola Company’s stringent global food-grade standards and complying with regulations set by the Singapore Food Agency.
To actively contribute to increased plastic bottle recycling rates in Singapore, Coca-Cola has partnered with local public waste collector SembWaste to initiate a PET bottle collection program. Consumers can conveniently deposit PET or rPET bottles for recycling in designated collection bins across nine high-traffic locations, including commercial buildings and neighborhood centers/malls.

This collection program, designed for maximum convenience, leverages SembWaste’s expertise in collection and clean stream recycling. The recyclables collected will be transported to Hiroyuki Industries Group in Malaysia, a leading plastic products processing and manufacturing company, for downstream recycling into rPET.
