An evening of culinary celebration unfolded as the RAS Epicurean Star Award 2023 took center stage, honoring the vibrant and dedicated workforce in Singapore’s ever-thriving F&B industry. The event, held at the Raffles City Convention Centre (RCCC) Fairmont Ballroom, witnessed a record-breaking 164 F&B establishments nominated across 22 categories, underscoring the industry’s resilience and innovation. The gala, graced by Guest of Honour Ms Low Yen Ling, Minister of State for Trade and Industry, saw the presentation of 44 prestigious awards.
The 28th edition of the RAS Epicurean Star Award is a beacon in Singapore’s F&B calendar, dedicated to acknowledging the outstanding contributions of brands, individuals, and establishments in the industry. Beyond recognizing culinary prowess, the awards pay homage to the unsung heroes—the service staff, restaurateurs, and chefs—who have weathered challenges with unwavering dedication.
The F&B landscape is ever-evolving, shaped by the discerning tastes of a new generation of diners. This year’s RAS Epicurean Star Award took note of significant trends, including the rising demand for healthier dining options, a focus on sustainability with plant-based ingredients and eco-friendly foods, and a heightened interest in farm-to-table offerings. Acknowledging this shift, the awards introduced a novel category—the ‘Best Farm-To-Table Restaurant.’
This groundbreaking category commends establishments that champion ethical sourcing and sustainable practices, aligning with Singapore’s commitment to environmental responsibility. It resonates with the national Farm-to-Table initiative launched earlier this year, recognizing F&B establishments prioritizing locally sourced produce.
Building on last year’s collaboration with Workforce Singapore (WSG), the RAS Epicurean Star Award introduced the WSG Workforce Transformation Award. This dedicated category recognizes companies that have undergone significant workforce transformation through job redesign and reskilling efforts. The awards aim to motivate the industry to embrace workforce transformation, emphasizing the importance of adaptability and growth in challenging times.
The evening not only celebrated culinary excellence but also highlighted the industry’s commitment to sustainability and workforce resilience.
