Almost two decades after the groundbreaking original Planet Earth series redefined natural history filmmaking, BBC Earth is back with the third installment of the series, and it’s set to take you on an unforgettable adventure. So, get ready to be mesmerized by the wonders of our planet with Planet Earth III!
Sir David Attenborough returns to guide us through this eight-part series, filled with amazing species and extraordinary tales. These stories are dramatic, thrilling, funny, and sometimes heart-breaking, but they always leave us with hope. Prepare to witness never-seen-before animal behaviors as the show delves deep into the lives of animal characters, reflecting the new challenges wildlife faces in our modern, crowded world.
What’s even more exciting is that Planet Earth III will whisk you away to some of the most fantastic locations across Asia. From the dense jungles of Gomantong & Sukau in Borneo to meet the graceful Oriental Pied Hornbill, to the enchanting Dauin in The Philippines where you’ll encounter the mysterious Frogfish. You’ll also explore the captivating world of the Archer Fish in Raja Ampat, Indonesia, and even venture into one of the world’s largest natural caves, Hang Son Doong in Vietnam.
Produced by BBC Studios’ Natural History Unit, a team with over 100 years of storytelling heritage, this documentary series is nothing short of spectacular. Filmed over five years, it utilizes pioneering technology like lightweight drones, high-speed cameras, and remotely operated deep-sea submersibles to take you on a journey from the remotest jungles to the deepest oceans, and from the darkest caves to the hottest deserts.
From the creators of Blue Planet II and Planet Earth II, Planet Earth III also emphasizes the pressing need to preserve and restore nature. Our planet has reached a critical point in history, with the natural world undergoing more profound changes in the past few decades than ever before. These changes affect every ecosystem and every creature we share this planet with.
To make the debut of Planet Earth III even more exciting, the BBC Earth Screening Festival is taking place on Saturday, 28 October 2023 at the stunning Gardens by the Bay’s Supertree Grove. You can catch a special preview of the first episode of Planet Earth III on the big screen under the stars even before it officially airs on TV screens in Asia.
The festival offers a fantastic program of fun-filled activities for the whole family, including meet-and-greet sessions with Bluey and Bingo mascots, episode screenings of BBC’s iconic children’s shows like Hey Duggee, Go Jetters, Supertato, and, of course, Bluey. Local artist Sam Lo has even collaborated with BBC Earth to create an exclusive BBC Earth tote bag design that you can redeem at the event (while stocks last).
There’s a range of other exciting activities for families and children, such as a painting session with illustrator Sam Lo, an exclusive BBC Earth Tote Bag giveaway, Kind Kones Ice-cream giveaway, and other interactive kids’ activities. Children can also participate in a stamp collection activity to redeem a special gift (limited redemptions, while stocks last).
