YouTube Singapore Honors Ng Ming Wei with Diamond Play Button, Celebrating 10 Million Subscribers

In an exciting and well-deserved recognition of digital success, YouTube Singapore awarded the coveted Diamond Play Button to Ng Ming Wei, better known as @mingweirocks, at the YouTube Creator Community event. The celebration marked a significant milestone as Ming Wei reached the impressive milestone of 10 million subscribers.

Ming Wei has gained immense popularity on the platform, primarily known for his engaging short skits and clever prank videos. He embarked on his YouTube journey, particularly with YouTube Shorts, in July 2021. Since then, his channel has surged past the 10 million subscribers mark, captivating a global audience with his unique storytelling style that transcends language barriers.

One remarkable aspect of Ming Wei’s journey is his consistent ability to produce captivating short videos, many of which have garnered millions of views on YouTube. His success has even led him to establish his creative and media agency, Boom Digital Media, to assist brands in connecting with their target audiences effectively.

Ming Wei’s accomplishments are a testament to the growing popularity of YouTube Shorts. Since its introduction in Singapore in 2021, YouTube Shorts has emerged as a go-to platform for sharing spontaneous ideas and inspiration. Globally, it now amasses over 70 billion daily views from more than 2 billion signed-in users each month. In Southeast Asia countries, including Singapore, the platform has witnessed remarkable year-on-year growth of over 130%.

The thriving creator ecosystem in Singapore is evident as well, with over 70 channels boasting more than one million subscribers as of December 2022, marking a 25% increase from the previous year. In support of this growing community, YouTube has unveiled a suite of AI-powered capabilities designed to enhance the content creation experience.

One of the highlights is the launch of a beta mobile editing app for Android, YouTube Create, offering simplified video production for both Shorts and longer videos, all at no cost. Creators can also look forward to innovative AI features such as Dream Screen. This experimental feature allows creators to effortlessly generate AI-driven video or image backgrounds by simply typing an idea into a prompt. Furthermore, AI-powered insights are set to provide personalized video ideas and draft outlines to facilitate brainstorming sessions for creators, both new and established.
