The second edition of FIND – Design Fair Asia, held as a key event during Singapore Design Week, was a resounding success. The fair celebrated the vibrant interiors and furniture industry of the Asia-Pacific region and attracted a diverse and international audience. Over the course of three days, FIND welcomed nearly 13,000 visitors, representing a four percent increase in attendance compared to the previous year.
FIND – Design Fair Asia was jointly organized by dmg events, renowned global tradeshow professionals for design, construction, and hospitality trade shows, and Fiera Milano, a world-famous Italian exhibition company. The event was inaugurated by Dawn Lim, the Executive Director of DesignSingapore Council, and was graced by top representatives of the Economic Development Board, Singapore Tourism Board, Italian Trade Agency, Singapore Furniture Industries Council, and more.
FIND – Global Summit
This central feature of the fair gathered over 60 prominent design thinkers, architects, hospitality professionals, and interior designers from around the world. They explored the changing landscape of the design industry, turning global challenges into opportunities. The audience was treated to inspirational sessions in a lush, green setting designed by artist Stefano Boeri.
Italian Design Showcase
Italy, a leading presence at the fair, showcased its craftsmanship and design excellence through the Italian Pavilion, also known as The Italian Design Futures Capsule. It featured more than 40 brands, highlighting bespoke Italian craftsmanship and polished designs.
Sustainability Focus
Sustainability was a central theme, seen across various exhibitors and participants. The Urban Design Factories Showcase featured the Altostrata Pavilion, a 3D-printed structure made of biodegradable, sugar-based PLA. It hosted discussions on sustainable design, technology, and innovation. Seven Clean Seas, Innovasia, and Grobrix were among the companies emphasizing sustainability in their practices.
EMERGE Exhibition
The second EMERGE @ FIND, curated by Suzy Annetta, featured contemporary Southeast Asian design under the theme “CRAFT + INDUSTRY: MAN + MACHINE.” Over 30 designers presented their works, ranging from furniture to lighting to home accessories.
Asia Pacific Designer Accreditation Program
FIND’s growing importance for the regional interiors industry was evident with the launch of the Asia Pacific Designer Accreditation program. This initiative aims to set professional standards for interior architects and designers, enabling them to be recognized and qualified by the Asia Pacific Space Designers Association. It lays the foundation for mutual recognition agreements and the exchange of best practices in the industry.
FIND – Design Fair Asia has firmly established itself as a hub for interior designers, architects, and industry professionals across the Asia-Pacific region. The event not only showcased the latest trends in the industry but also provided a platform for thought leaders to address pressing challenges and explore innovative solutions.
The success of the 2023 edition paves the way for an even more exciting FIND – Design Fair Asia in 2024, scheduled to take place from 26 – 28 September.
