Deliveroo Rides Smart with Heart: A Children’s Day Event for Rider Safety

Children’s Day took on a new meaning this year as Deliveroo Singapore joined forces with the Singapore Cycling Federation (SCF) to put rider safety in the spotlight. The result? ‘Deliveroo Rides Smart with Heart,’ an innovative and educational cycling workshop that marked a first-of-its-kind initiative by Deliveroo. This event, held in conjunction with Deliveroo’s third annual Rider Safety Month, aimed to raise awareness and educate both riders and their children on safe cycling practices.

Pedaling Towards Safety

Gathering at SCF’s 100Plus track at the Singapore Sports Hub, more than 40 participants, including Deliveroo riders and their kids, embarked on an immersive and hands-on safe riding workshop. ‘Deliveroo Rides Smart with Heart’ commenced with SCF imparting practical and actionable tips for safe road navigation. The workshop delved into real-life applications and road etiquette, equipping riders with the skills to handle challenging traffic conditions while carrying food delivery loads and navigating crowded pavements—all while prioritizing safety.

A Family Affair

This event went above and beyond rider safety by involving the young road users of tomorrow. Deliveroo riders and their children enthusiastically bonded over best riding practices during the workshop. It served as a heartfelt reminder for riders to prioritize safety on their daily delivery routes, ensuring they return home safely to their loved ones at the end of the day.

Education and Engagement for Safer Roads

The need for rider safety education couldn’t be more critical. According to the Singapore Police Force’s Annual Road Traffic Situation Report for 2022, road traffic accidents for all road users increased compared to 2021, with injuries resulting from accidents rising by 13.8%. These alarming statistics underscore the challenges faced by riders on the road, making initiatives like ‘Deliveroo Rides Smart with Heart’ all the more essential.

Deliveroo’s Commitment to Rider Safety

But this event is just the beginning of Deliveroo’s dedication to rider safety. Rider Safety Month features a host of educational initiatives tailored to riders, with workshops planned throughout October in collaboration with partners like Singapore Traffic Police, Singapore Civil Defence Force, and Singapore Red Cross. Moreover, Deliveroo maintains an ongoing commitment to rider safety through safety training workshops held throughout the year, in partnership with SCF and ComfortDelGo (for motorbikes).
