Experience the Inaugural World X Fest 2023 Japan Edition in Singapore! A Unique Fusion of Tradition and Pop Culture

Far East Organization, in partnership with Travel Curators, presents the first-ever World X Fest 2023 Japan Edition in Singapore. This exciting event will unfold over three fantastic days from 29 September to 1 October 2023, right in the heart of Singapore at Clarke Quay Central, one of the iconic Far East Malls.

World X Fest 2023 Japan Edition promises to bring people together to immerse themselves in the rich tapestry of Japanese culture, blending modern J-Pop flair with the timeless charm of traditional Japanese summer festivals (matsuri).

World X Fest 2023 Japan Edition

Conceived by Travel Curators, World X Fest 2023 Japan Edition offers a captivating fusion of classic matsuri elements with J-pop and anime cultures. This one-of-a-kind event introduces several exciting concepts that have never been seen before in Singapore. While traditional matsuri features odori dances and folk songs, this festival will feature J-Pop artists belting out hit tracks from beloved anime series like Demon Slayer, One Piece, and Naruto. Instead of the usual summer yukatas, attendees are encouraged to embrace their inner anime characters by donning cosplay attire. Renowned Japanese cosplayers will grace the event, setting a spirited and vibrant atmosphere.

The matsuri game booths will also receive a makeover, with guest artists manning the stalls at specific times, offering fans autograph sessions and the chance to win attractive prizes like CDs, exclusive T-shirts, and other sought-after J-pop merchandise.

Meet the Star-Studded Lineup

The guest artistes lineup includes J-Pop singers such as Yayoi Daimon and Akko Gorilla, who have performed at major music festivals like SXSW and Fuji Rock Festival. In addition, cosplayer Nanase Meron, who represented Japan at the World Cosplay Summit 2022, and cosplay armor specialist Yumaki, who won first place at the World Cosplay Summit Exhibition 2022, will make their debut performances in Singapore at World X Fest 2023 Japan Edition. To celebrate their Singapore debut, the organizers will feature them in a Japanese-style variety show on stage, allowing fans to discover the interesting facets of their personalities.

Delectable Japanese Cuisine

To enhance the festival’s atmosphere, Don Don Donki will be managing several food stalls at Clarke Quay Central, serving perennial favorites such as yaki-imo (baked sweet potatoes), kushiyaki (grilled skewered meats), and onigiri (rice balls).

Tora-Q Mascot Gijinka Cosplay Competition

In honor of the festival, Travel Curators is introducing an original yuru-chara mascot named Tora-Q, inspired by the shiba-inu dog, the maneki-neko cat, and Jizo stone statues. To add to the excitement, World X Fest 2023 will host a thematic cosplay competition on 30 September 2023. Participants can showcase their creativity with their gijinka interpretation of Tora-Q. Cosplayers can register online before 25 September 2023.

Dynasty Travel is sponsoring one of the most significant cosplay prize pools in Singapore for this competition, worth more than $25,000. Winners stand a chance to win cash rewards and a specially-curated pop culture-themed trip to Japan.

Be Part of the Festival

Members of the public attending the event are encouraged to dress in shades of grey and red to enjoy special privileges. Expect Clarke Quay Central to transform into a mesmerizing canvas of grey and red on 30 September 2023.

World X Fest 2023 Japan Edition marks the first time a matsuri celebrating Japanese gastronomy, anime, and pop music is held at the annual Singapore River Festival, which began on 7 September and will conclude on 1 October 2023. The Singapore River Festival is organized by Singapore River One, with BytePlus as the presenting sponsor.
