Calling all fans of Taiwanese TV dramas – the queen of the genre herself, Ruby Lin, is back with a brand-new production that’s bound to captivate audiences once again. Known for her unforgettable roles in timeless classics like “My Fair Princess,” Ruby Lin is ready to mesmerize viewers with her latest creation, “Living,” set to premiere on iQIYI on 17 September.
“Living” boasts an ensemble cast of esteemed Taiwanese veteran actors, including Chris Wu, Sandrine Pinna, Joe Cheng, JC Lin, Yang Kuei Mei, King Jieh-wen, Sun Ke-fang, Beatrice Fang, and the young talent Hsieh Zhanrong. The show’s production journey began last September, and after a year of hard work, the crew and cast took to social media to announce the premiere date with excitement.
The storyline of “Living” revolves around the Gao family and its central character, Gao Jiayue, portrayed by the charismatic Chris Wu. Jiayue returns from abroad with a heavy heart, contemplating bidding farewell to the world. But before he takes that step, he’s determined to visit his family one last time. However, upon returning, he’s met with a startling realization – his family is not the one he remembered.
The show’s teaser trailers provide a tantalizing glimpse into Gao Jiayue’s journey. In the “Going Home Edition,” we witness Jiayue facing setbacks in his career and selling his shop, only to be mocked by the new landlord who believes he’s taken over not just the shop, but Jiayue’s life. Upon reuniting with his family, he finds himself estranged from his siblings, including his second brother played by Joe Cheng and his younger brother portrayed by JC Lin.
In the “Love Edition,” the trailers delve into the intricate web of relationships that Jiayue navigates. From unexpected pregnancies to chance encounters and flirtations, the series promises to explore the complexities of love and connection.
“Living” isn’t just about the challenges faced by Gao Jiayue; it promises to be a rollercoaster of emotions, blending moments of humor that will have audiences laughing and poignant scenes that will evoke empathy for the characters’ stories.
Mark your calendars for 17 September 2023, because “Living” will be available for streaming worldwide on iQIYI (except Hong Kong and Macau). Prepare to be enthralled by Ruby Lin’s latest creation and immerse yourself in the intricate lives of the Gao family.
