Honoring Mr Lee Kuan Yew’s Centennial: National Museum of Singapore Debuts Commemorative Short Film and Digital Trail

In celebration of the 100th birth anniversary of Singapore’s founding prime minister, Mr Lee Kuan Yew, the National Museum of Singapore proudly presents a captivating short film titled “LKY100: The Life and Legacy of Lee Kuan Yew (1923–2015),” produced by renowned local filmmaker Royston Tan. These speeches, primarily sourced from his National Day Rally addresses, underscore Mr Lee’s belief in multiculturalism and his reflections on Singapore’s remarkable transformation into the modern metropolis it is today.

As part of the National Museum’s National Day Celebrations, excerpts from “LKY100” will illuminate the museum’s façade during a captivating light-up spectacle from 21 July to 9 August 2023, starting at 7:30 PM and continuing till midnight.

Complementing the film is a digital trail, thoughtfully curated to chronicle Mr Lee’s life and legacy. Located within the National Museum, this immersive experience explores the values he embodied, the impact of his ideas and actions on Singapore’s trajectory, and his lasting influence as a political figure. The trail spans across the post-war Singapore section of the Singapore History Gallery and the Semangat yang Baru: Forging a New Singapore Spirit exhibition, providing visitors with an enriched understanding of Mr Lee’s historical significance and contributions.

Registering for the digital trail is simple and accessible through personal mobile devices.
