New M1 True 5G Eco SIM is made from recycled resources in line with World Environment Day

M1 Limited (M1) announces the availability of True 5G Eco SIM for new sign-ups to M1’s Bespoke plans in line with World Environment Day.

As part of its efforts to minimise environmental impact, M1 is introducing the new True 5G Eco SIM in half-sized card format (half the size of a credit card) made from recycled resources, progressively replacing SIM cards currently made from Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC) materials. Doing this is not only eco-friendly but it is also a great solution to reduce logistics costs.

By halving the size of the SIM card holder and the usage of recyclable materials, M1 will be able to reduce plastic use by 50% and product carbon footprint by 30% in the SIM production department.

Some key benefits of M1’s Eco-Half SIM cards include:

  • Reducing the use of natural resources: The reduction of size, as well as the use of recycled materials, help reduce the use of natural resources
  • Keeping CO2 emissions in check: Using fewer materials and recycled materials lead to a substantial reduction in CO2 emissions
  • Limiting waste: A reduced card body size has a considerable impact on overall plastic waste
  • Lower logistics costs: Lower volume and weight save transport costs and also reduce the overall carbon footprint from a logistic perspective

Besides the True 5G Eco SIM, M1 is also one of the first few providers to offer 5G eSIM in Singapore. An eSIM is a digital SIM that allows you to activate a mobile plan from M1 without having to use a physical nano-SIM.

In addition, M1 has accelerated initiatives to cut e-waste by encouraging customers to trade in their old devices in-store. These old devices will be repurposed for new devices or sent to recycling partners to recover more precious materials and support sustainable practices.

True 5G Eco SIMs are available at all M1 shops starting today.
