This Disney-inspired Leica Q2 camera is definitely a must-have for all Disney fans and photography enthusiasts

To mark the 100th anniversary of the film studios, Leica and Disney join hands in a groundbreaking collaboration that resulted in a limited, special edition Leica Q2 | Disney “100 Years of Wonder”.

The special edition features custom-designed elements inspired by beloved Disney characters and films, as well as Leica’s exceptional imaging capabilities.

For over 100 years, Leica has been developing precise optical instruments which have revolutionised the world of imaging many times over. And therefore, the perfect collaboration for Walt Disney, who 100 years ago started to bring his vision and passion to animated filmmaking.

Disney has been creating sophisticated cartoon storyboards using Leica (then called Leitz) cameras and projectors since the very early days of animation. Disney dramatically changed the techniques of animated filmmaking thanks to the innovative Leica instruments of the time – and did so with such lasting effect that the term “Leica Reel” was coined during this period.

The design applied to the special edition of the Leica Q2 camera dates back to a model sheet created in 1937 by one of Walt Disney Studio’s noted animators, Don Towsley.

The camera body is covered with a special material reminiscent of the tracing paper on which Disney’s creators penciled scenes and characters, which not only gives the camera a sophisticated aesthetic but also makes it even more interesting for amateur collectors.

The Leica Q2 is known for its exceptional image quality and compact design, making it the perfect companion for capturing memories and moments of wonder. This special edition camera features unique design elements, including a Mickey Mouse print adorning the camera’s top plate, Disney logo and edition number engraved on back display glass, protective dust bag with matching original Disney graphics, a special rope strap with embossed logos and comes with a certificate of authenticity.

The Leica Q2 | Disney “100 Years of Wonder” edition is limited to 500 sets worldwide and will be available at Leica Stores, the Leica Online Store and authorised Leica dealers starting 27th April 2023.
