Cycle & Carriage Kia is excited to introduce its latest sustainable car to hit the road, the all-new Kia Niro EV, today at the prestigious Singapore Motorshow 2023. Made in Korea, this full-electric iteration of the Niro is a handsome crossover that is easily incorporated into urban mobility. The introduction of the Niro EV is the next step to meaningful and sustainable mobility, conceived to be as easy to driver and as user-friendly as possible.
The Kia Niro EV packs not only forward aesthetics into its design, but also the expected Kia advances into every aspect of its total appearance. As with the Niro Hybrid, the EV version comes with the Aero C-Pillar, an exceptional design that improves airflow and contributes to crucial aerodynamic function.
Its appealing design features the duo finish of matte and gloss, and two-tone front grille. Daytime running lights are inspired by the image of a heartbeat, while the rear headlamps are in the shape of a boomerang. Together with the hexagonal stereoscopic pattern, the Niro EV offers a futuristic silhouette that is sleek and purposeful.
A dual 10.25-inch panoramic digital screen, integrating both driver information cluster and infotainment functions in one streamlined suite, is within the driver’s sight. Just below the screen is the multimode control display that allows easy access to the multimedia and climate settings. There is also ambient mood lighting, with 64 colour options to choose from.
Comfort is crucial to the Niro EV. Specially designed seats are installed to enhance the space for passengers in the front and the rear. For instance, rear passenger space is maximised with the best-in-class wheelbase of 2.72m, identical to the Niro Hybrid.
56% of the headlining of the new EV is made from recycled plastics and 75% of the multi-use cargo screen is composed of recycled fibres. The car seats are finished with vegan leather, specifically with the use of sustainable Tencel fibres derived from eucalyptus leaves.
Powered by the latest electric motor, the Niro EV delivers a dynamic driving experience, charged by a 64.8 kWh lithium-ion battery, with an electric range of 460km on a single charge. It seamlessly achieves instant torque and acceleration from 0 to 100km in 7.8 seconds.
The Niro EV is equipped with an advanced 8-airbag system. The Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist provides a warning if the risk of collision with a rear-side vehicle is assessed. There is also the Smart Cruise Feature which maintains the distance from the vehicle ahead, allowing a drive speed determined and set by the driver. And the Safe Exit Assist provides an audible warning and prevents the opening of the door when a car approaching the rear is detected.
Named ‘Manufacturer of the Year’ the 2022 TopGear Awards, Kia continues to push the envelope in the direction of EV engineering and design. The Niro EV is part of an EV line-up of 14 models by 2027, realising Kia’s commitment to sustainable mobility that is accessible to everyone.
