This Christmas, why not try something different if you are ordering festive catering for your home or for delivery – get a feast with Peranakan flavours from Chili Api Catering.
The Chili Padi Group is an established Peranakan cuisine food services company in Singapore, tracing its origins to 1997 with the opening of Chilli Padi Nonya Restaurant in the Tiong Bahru residential district. From those modest beginnings, Chilli Padi’s operations have grown to include events catering (Chilli Api Catering), cafeteria management (Chilli Padi Nonya Catering) and dine-in restaurants (Chilli Padi Nonya Restaurant and Chilli Padi Nonya Café). The group was later acquired by ABR Holdings, the owner and operator of Swensen’s ice cream restaurants in Singapore
Specially for this festive period, they have rolled out a lavish spread of iconic Peranakan flavours refined with a contemporary, elevated spin for Christmas.
Their Mini Party Set for 8 to 10 person range in prices from S$288+ to S$298+. For their Christmas Feast buffets, a minimum order for 40 person is required, with prices starting from S$22.80+ per person up to S$43.80+ per person. Festive bento orders start from S$17.80 per person up to S$27.80 per person, with a required minimum order for 20 person.
We sampled their Modern Peranakan Delights Mini Party Set (S$288+) which serves 8 to 10 person. The set comes with the following:
The delivery comes delivered fresh and warm, with all the food items properly secured cleanly in separate containers. Little Christmas decors are provided for plating, making it more fun to eat. At S$28+ for 10 person, this works out to just around S$30 per person for a Christmas feast at home – a very good deal.
Note that Chili Api is a halal-certified company, so you can enjoy their Christmas feasts together with your Muslim friends and family. To work around the traditional Christmas ham and other carved meats, they have substituted pork with either chicken ham or the plant-based IMPOSSIBLE meat so you won’t be missing the flavours.
My family has Peranakan roots and we enjoyed the injection of familiar Nonya flavours into our Christmas feast. The standout items for us were the flavourful Udang Goreng and the Salat cake.
