All of a sudden, you find yourself lighting a cigarette every time you go out with your friends, wait for the bus to arrive, drink a cup of coffee, or feel slightly anxious. 

Smoking is addictive and harmful to your health. Studies show that more women die of lung cancer than men. However, even if smoking doesn’t cause you cancer, you will likely face other problems, including pregnancy issues, lower estrogen levels, going through menopause earlier in life, and other lethal conditions. 

The sooner you quit smoking, the healthier your lifestyle will be. Bear in mind that for some women, quitting smoking will be a demanding endeavor. Fortunately, hard doesn’t mean impossible. You got this! 

Take a Breast Cancer Gene Test

Unfortunately, many women suffer from breast cancer all around the world. The reasons are plenty, primarily including environmental and hormonal factors. However, a family history of breast cancer, drinking too much alcohol, and even something as simple as having the first period before the age of 12, could result in breast cancer in the future.

Some simple changes in your diet could drastically improve your health and overall well-being. That old saying of “You are what you eat” is nothing but a fact. If you constantly feed your body with sugar, alcohol, and junk food, then it’s natural that you’ll feel terrible most of the time. 

Instead, treat your health as if it were your children’s health. Add more fruits and vegetables to your meals. Eat smaller portions (but don’t starve yourself!). Get rid of salt slowly but steadily. Eat more fiber-rich foods too, such as nuts, legumes, and grains. Fiber is great for your gut and skin health, and for balancing your hormones. 

Believe it or not, a change in your diet could reduce your chances of developing heart disease and having a stroke. Lastly, consider that a healthy diet will not only benefit your body but also your mind. Once you get used to eating healthier, you’ll never want to go back to your previous diet. 

Take a Break

Are you an ambitious woman? Are you a workaholic? What if, on top of that, you still take care of the house chores, cook dinner, and drive your kids to school? And let’s not forget, you still have to brush your hair and put your make-up on. 

Indeed, it is tiresome to take charge of so many activities. It’s misguided to think that an active life will distract you from negative thoughts. On the contrary, it could backfire and leave you susceptible to panic attacks, depression, or anxiety. 

Your mental health is as important as your physical health. No matter how many things “need” to be done, always find a gap in your day to relax and enjoy the present. Delegate activities to ease the burden off of your back. Resting is as relevant as working hard, so make sure you get enough sleep and spend some time doing fun activities. 

Watch a movie, play video games, listen to music, read a book, go for a walk, or simply sit down for a while. Truth is, doing nothing is a healthy form of recharging your batteries and being more assertive for the rest of the week.

Strong women make their well-being a priority. Far from being an egotistical act, they’re actually improving their lives and the lives of those closest to them. Don’t forget that you’re a valuable person, so if you want to take care of your loved ones, then start by taking care of your own health. Implement these tips, and you’ll enjoy a long life of happiness, calmness, and success.
