[REVIEW] HUAWEI WATCH FIT 2 – Versatile, Fun, Everyday Use Smartwatch for just S$168

Earlier in June, Huawei announced the Singapore availability of its latest wearables devices – WATCH GT 3 Pro and WATCH FIT 2.

Previously unveiled at the HUAWEI Flagship Product launch in May 2022, the WATCH GT 3 Pro and WATCH FIT 2 are armed with the industry’s latest fitness and health tracking technologies to support the active lifestyles and holistic living that Singaporeans today aspire towards.

I have been using the WATCH FIT 2 for the past few months and here is a quick review of the experience so far.

The sleek HUAWEI WATCH FIT 2 weighs only 26g and is a great smartwatch to get for those looking for a light timepiece that also doubles as a fitness tracker. The watch is choke full of intelligent health and wellness features such as 97 workout modes and a built-in independent animated fitness coach to allow you to work out anywhere and anytime.

With access to the HUAWEI Assistant, you can also experience smartphone-like control and gather information on weather, flights and other daily essential queries easily with the flick of a finger. I use it to set a picture from my phone to show on my watch face, transferring it easily with a single tap.

The watch also elevates everyday smart living by allowing users to push calls from our smartphone to the WATCH FIT 2 smartwatch via Bluetooth, answer and decline calls with just an easy tap, and also add frequently-used contacts in the HUAWEI Health App. I found this feature particularly useful when I receive call when I am on my evening jogs or while I am on the move. I can easily answer a sudden call by tapping my watch.

For those who like a big display screen, WATCH FIT 2 comes equipped with a 1,74-inch AMOLED HD HUAWEI FullView that displays 336PPI and 336 x 480 resolution to deliver a screen-to-body ratio as high as 72.2%. This is nice to look at when you load your favourite pictures onto the watch face.

Additionally, you can also play music directly on the smartwatch with offline music playback and manage music playback through mobile apps like Spotify.

For battery life, a full charge on the WATCH FIT 2 powers up to 10 days of typical use or 7 days of heavy use. I wear my watch daily and go out exercising for around 30 minutes daily. The battery life can last more than 7 days for a user like me for sure because I only charge it once a week.

For swimmers, the watch has a water resistance rating of 5ATM, but this protection is not permanent and may deteriorate over time. As such, it is recommended by Huawei that you can wear your watch when you are washing your hands, in the rain, or swimming in shallow water, but do not wear it when you are showering, diving, scuba diving, or surfing. My advice is not to wear it for swimming.

For those who like to track the quality of your sleep as well, the WATCH FIT 2 provides other high-level smart features to manage your health, including SpO2, heart rate, sleep, and stress tracking.

The WATCH FIT 2 comes in two editions – Active and Classic – offering a range of colours and styles for the fashion-conscious. I find the pastel-themed Sakura Pink and Isle Blue interesting options for a more energetic, youthful look.

If you find it stifling to be limited to just one strap colour, the WATCH FIT 2 features a press-to-release “Link” design, which means that switching straps is as easy as swapping bracelets. Need a different colour? Just press, switch, and you are all set to go. We tried it and it is super easy to release and yet extremely tight when locked back in. Changing a watch strap has never been so easy in our experience.

For a regular-use, versatile smartwatch cum fitness tracker, The HUAWEI WATCH FIT 2 delivers on value, retailing at just S$168.

For those with a bit more budget and would like something more premium, check out the HUAWEI WATCH GT 3 Pro Titanium Edition which features innovative workout modes like Golf and Free-diving.
