$1 Sushi Promo at Sushi-GO’s New AMK Hub outlet: Valid for 30 sushi types!

Looking for an affordable place for Japanese sushi? Sushi-GO has opened a second outlet at AMK Hub with a futuristic concept, with more than 150 items on the menu for you to choose from.

Robot Concept

At this outlet, mini robots (termed as GO-bots) with emoji-like expressions take over the tasks of bringing you to your table as well as delivering food around the restaurant.

Food is also ordered via the restaurant’s mobile ordering system and you can enjoy the novelty of receiving it from one of the many mini bullet train bots.

To complement the theme, the interior of the restaurant as well as the wall décor resemble that of a Japanese bullet train.

Sushi Offerings from $1.80

Sushi-GO’s menu is generally affordable, with sushi dishes starting from as low as $1.80.

Chef’s recommendations include GO-Tsunami Salmon Sushi and Lobster Salad-GO.

GO-Tsunami Salmon Sushi ($5.80 for 2 pieces)

The GO-Tsunami Salmon Sushi ($5.80 for 2 pieces) features two pieces of salmon sushi sitting atop a bed of nori and topped with crabstick and ikura. The serving of ikura is rather generous and the salmon is fresh.

Lobster Salad-GO ($4 for 4 pieces)

The Lobster Salad-GO ($4 for 4 pieces) is a new addition to the menu and features lobster meat in mayonnaise atop cucumber maki. The sushi is also covered in cheese sauce and topped with black flying fish roe. The sauce goes well with the lobster and it makes for a light yet hearty dish.

For salmon lovers, there are quite a few salmon dishes that you can try.

Atsugiri Salmon Sashimi ($7.50 for 3 slices)

The Atsugiri Salmon Sashimi ($7.50 for 3 slices) sets itself apart from other sushi chains’ sashimi as each slice is 1.5x thicker, living up to its price point.

Salmon Dragon Roll ($8.90 for 4 pieces)

You can’t go wrong with the Salmon Dragon Roll ($8.90 for 4 pieces), which comes with unagi, cucumber and cream cheese topped with seared salmon, mentaiko mayonnaise and shrimp roe. All in all, this sushi is filled with seafood and is a filling dish.

Aburi Mentai Mayo Corn ($2 for 1 piece)

Salmon aside, the Aburi Mentai Mayo Corn ($2 for 1 piece) came as a sweet surprise. Despite being a no-frills dish with inari and sweet corn tucked under mentaiko mayo, the flavours went well together and the mentaiko sauce was delicious.

Aburi Shoyu Butter Hotate Sushi ($2.80 for 1 piece)

The Aburi Shoyu Butter Hotate Sushi ($2.80 for 1 piece) is another new item on the menu and was interesting to taste. Featuring a thin layer of butter, seared scallop and teriyaki sauce, the butter added some sinful goodness to the sushi. However, if you prefer a less oily version of it, there’s always the Jumbo Hotate Sushi ($2.50 for 1 piece). The scallop is rather huge in size, making it bang for your buck.

Mentai Mayo-GO ($3.50 for 3 pieces)

One dish that was classic yet sumptuous was the Mentai Mayo-GO ($3.50 for 3 pieces), which can satisfy mentaiko cravings on a budget. This new dish offers three types of sushi drenched in mentaiko: mentai mayo salmon, mentai mayo prawn and mentai mayo crab stick. Perfect for those who want to sample a range of sushi as well!

Parma Ham & Cream Cheese Sushi ($2.50 for 2 pieces)

Sushi-GO also has some innovative items on the menu, such as the Parma Ham & Cream Cheese Sushi ($2.50 for 2 pieces). However, this dish was a little disappointing as the dryness of the ham and cheese made the sushi rather plain.

Hot dishes

Apart from sushi, Sushi-GO also offers a range of hot items.

Yangnyeom Chicken ($3.20)

The Yangnyeom Chicken ($3.20) features sweet and spicy fried chicken. Although fragrant, it is a tad bit spicy so you may want to get a drink to go with it.

Teriyaki Chicken Tsukune ($2.80)

I would recommend the Teriyaki Chicken Tsukune ($2.80) as the chicken meat balls were savoury and came well-paired with spicy sauce and sesame seed.

Desserts

Matcha Warabi Mochi ($3.50)

After savouring the mains, you can enjoy some Matcha Warabi Mochi ($3.50), which features jelly-like mochi topped with green tea powder and brown sugar syrup. The dish is sweet and fragrant enough without being too overpowering.

Matcha Cheesecake ($3.50)

If you’re rather full, the Matcha Cheesecake ($3.50) is palm-sized and can be a quick and fulfilling end to your meal.

Verdict

The sushi at Sushi-GO is rather fresh and they do have some novel dishes that you can explore if you’re adventurous with your taste. If not, there are enough classics on the menu to satisfy the average Japanese food lover. The futuristic concept adds an interesting novelty to your food experience.
