[Review] Ready-made Plant-based Subscription Meals from AWE by OsomeFood from $80/mth

With plant-based food from sustainable food sources gaining popularity globally, AWE by OsomeFood is seeking to enter our kitchens and dining tables locally in Singapore by providing us with delivery options for convenient, nutrition-packed plant-based ready-made plant-based meals.

Meal plans are available from AWE from S$80 per month.

AWE is claimed to be the world’s first source-to-fork, nutrition-focused, plant-based food brand is the sister brand of OsomeFood, the food manufacturer credited with creating the world’s first plant-based hard-boiled egg.

“One standard AWE meal provides the average adult more than the equivalent amount of nutrients of an average meal. We recommend starting off with 1-2 AWE meals each week, maybe throw in a couple of AWE snacks, then slowly increasing your intake to 2-3 times a week,” shares AWE by OsomeFood Master Dietician, Mariah Hameed.

AWE’s Meal Subscription Plan

AWE’s monthly meal plan subscription delivers 4 supercharged meals and 6 supercharged snacks to your doorstep each month. On average, each meal or snack contains around 400 to 500 kcal, 7 to 8g protein, 15 to 20g carbohydrates and 8 to 9 g fat. Yes, they really go down to this level of nutritional details to ensure you know for sure, what you are putting into your mouth.

There is also an option for add-on special Functional Meal Programme packs to suit those with specific nutritional needs. For instance, there is a Weight Management subscription plan priced at S$240 which provides high protein, high fibre meals with lower calories to help sustain weight loss goals without compromising on health.

Convenient and easy to prepare, simply retrieve your ready-to-go meal packs from the freezer, then steam or submerge them in a mixture of 50% boiling water and 50% room temperature water for around 20 minutes. And voila, your meal is served.

The packaging comes clearly labeled with reheating and food preparation instructions. A one-month meal subscription will come sent to you like this:

They are very easy to prepare, with minimal cooking required. You just need a microwave, a heating stove and hot water.

From busy parents wanting to save time on meal planning to fitness enthusiasts on strict diets, AWE offers great variety with minimal preparation. AWE’s menu spans over 200 different meals and snack options representing local and world cuisines, from Zucchini Carbonaro to Truffle Lu Rou Fan.

We sampled the following:

Spicy Tuna Mayo spread
Spicy Beef Protein Noodle
Lu Rou Fan with plant-based collagen egg

To be honest, AWE’s food does not taste as delicious as their sinful, real-life namesakes. Nonetheless, the compromise in taste is worth it if you are looking to switch to a clean diet, either for health reasons or for personal beliefs in sustainability.

I did find the snacking options from AWE extremely useful when I want to grab a light bite without having to worry about adding on pounds or eating unhealthy junk snacks.

Before you subscribe to AWE’s meal plans, consider visiting their physical restaurant, AWE bistro to try out the food first to see if they suit your taste buds and meet your expectations. The restaurant offers a clean, nutritious plant-based menu made from OsomeFood ingredients, at very wallet-friendly prices with no items more than $18 and starting from just $5.

“AWE by OsomeFood is here to help you build a lifestyle that supports your nutritional needs. Our meal plan subscription is designed to provide a shareable experience that families and friends can enjoy and supercharge their nutrition needs from the comfort of their homes. We provide a steady source of nutrition for you to pursue your treats guilt-free.
