Singapore River Festival (SRF) 2022 is back for its sixth instalment with a month-long celebration from 1 April to 30 April. Jam-packed with exciting activities, SRF 2022 is dedicated to showcasing the diverse and robust range of F&B, retail, lifestyle and hospitality offerings across all three quays – Boat Quay, Clarke Quay and Robertson Quay.
Taking a different spin on the festival this year, SRF will be launching a brand-new virtual fishing game as the festival highlight.
Titled #TheGreatRiverCleanUp, the game – developed by local game developer, Sqkii, aims to raise awareness on caring for the environment with its central theme revolving around sustainability.
The game provides you opportunities to learn about the heritage of the Singapore River and encourage bonding through interactive play, by allowing up to five players to cooperatively fish, pool your points and attain the most attractive rewards at various milestone levels.
To start playing the game, you are required to head down to Singapore River, scan the onsite QR codes on the prominent standees placed around the three Quays (Boat Quay, Clarke Quay and Robertson Quay) and enable your GPS location services on your mobile device.
While cleaning up by removing unwanted objects from the river, you’ll stand a chance to win exclusive vouchers for same-day usage with participating partners, learn more about the Singapore River with little titbits of historical fun facts shared in the game, and win attractive prizes when they hit a virtual milestone.
A total of $1.1 million worth of vouchers and prizes to be won!
You are encouraged to fish out as many digital litters, bottles, and vouchers that are readily available for grabs, to improve the cleanliness of the virtual river. The more you fish, the more “cleanliness points” they accumulate.
As each fishing rod in the game can only be used for a limited number of times, cleanliness points collected can be used to upgrade to newer and better rods. Better rods used to collect digital litter, bottles and vouchers get better rewards too!
You can also perform certain brand-related actions to upgrade to exclusive rods which otherwise cannot be redeemed within the game, giving you an added boost. The game is not limited to just one quay, there are attractive prizes to be won across all three quays. Explore the precinct on foot as you fish along the river.
For April, SRF 2022 is collaborating with some of the best dining, lifestyle and hospitality establishments along the river to bring you a series of attractive prizes – ranging from same-day restaurant deals, retail gift cards, goodie bags, river cruise tickets, gym sessions, spa vouchers, staycations and more.
Look forward to fringe activities such as sake cocktail masterclasses, black and white film workshops, tufting workshops, movie experiences, and exclusive SRF-curated picnic baskets which you can purchase for an on-the-spot picnic along the river.
You can also take a stroll through the historic bridges’ underpasses or along Circular Road’s back lanes and admire the colourful murals that depict how the country has progressively transitioned towards modernity, read some snippets of the river’s historical fun facts on the floor stickers, tingle your taste buds with flavourful cuisines at the best eats along the quays, or wind down in the comfort of the welcoming hotels around the Singapore River precinct.
There is also a special three-day programme with a fully planned itinerary that includes suggested activities throughout all three quays. Between 1 to 30 April, you can spend day and night around the Singapore River precinct, explore the cool back lanes and immerse themselves fully in the vibrant environment abuzz with excitement.
