Xiaomi collaborates with Josiah Chua to combine fashion and tech, featuring the on-the-go and stylish Xiaomi 11 Lite 5G NE

Xiaomi announces an exciting partnership with Singaporean streetwear fashion creative Josiah Chua to create a stylish fashion-forward collection highlighting the brand’s latest accessible premium smartphone in Singapore – Xiaomi 11 Lite 5G NE.

Trained in fashion design at Lasalle College of the Arts and the prestigious Bunka College of Fashion in Tokyo, Chua has taken part in multiple prestigious design competitions, and is a familiar name in the Singapore creative scene. Xiaomi is thrilled to be working with Chua to break the boundaries of technology and fashion, setting an inspiration for dream-like futuristic looks.

Drawing inspiration from the bright, fun and fashionable colours of the Xiaomi 11 Lite 5G NE series, Chua focuses on the pastel, reflective shades of Bubblegum Blue and Peachy Pink to create an edgy and innovative fashion look comprising of an outerwear and combat boots that serves more than just a fashion statement.

Combining futuristic elements with an interpretation of Singapore’s vision of a garden city, the combat boots feature 3D origami floral motifs as well as the use of light film to recreate the iridescence effect from the Xiaomi 11 Lite 5G NE series.

His creation also tackles the issues of pockets, or the lack thereof, often faced by females. Multiple pockets in his pieces allow for the storage of smartphones, portable chargers and cables for charging on the go.

Through further development and manipulation of various fabrics, Chua experimented with using light film, a material commonly used on windows to minimise the effects of the sun’s glare, and holographic organza fabric. Chua incorporated Xiaomi charging cables as the drawstrings on the outerwear.
