[Review] Celebrate in-store or at home with Glean Café’s Christmas packages

Coming from a collection of concepts from The Refectory, this Asian-Western fusion café is a 10 minutes walk from Braddell MRT Station. And with Christmas right around the corner, their Christmas packages feature a Couple Package ($68+) and an extensive Family Package ($268+), plenty for 6 people.

Perfect for 2, the Couple’s Package includes a Lavender and Rosemary Turkey Roulade with a Pumpkin Pie with Smoked Turkey Gravy on the side. The light yet savoury gravy complements the flavourful Turkey Roulade.

On the otherhand, at first glance, it seemed that the sweetness from the pumpkins and carrots would not gel well with the savoury sauce in the pie. However, the contrast in flavours actually tied the dish together!

The XO Brussel Sprouts with Honey Baked Ham, Bacon and Sausage Stuffing was quite the surprise. It wasn’t too spicy and the umami flavour with the various meats enhanced these tiny “cabbages”.

Taking a Christmas spin on a classic, the Roasted Chestnut and Potato Salad features whole chestnuts and baby potatoes in a tangy sauce that blends well with the earthy flavours of the chestnuts.

Lastly the star of the show: Spiced Panettone with Cranberry and Roselle jam. The myriad of dried fruits in the fluffy panettone, paired with the tart jam was perfect for ending off the meal.

The Family Package ($268+) boasts a whole Lavender & Rosemary Roast Turkey, along with the Brussel Sprouts, Pumpkin Pie and Potato Salad. Last but not least, dessert includes a Spiced Panettone (500g), Lychee and Strawberry Log Cake and Gingerbread Loaf.

Glean Café also serves up brunch and a plethora of other dishes, all with an asian twist, such as Laksa Seafood Spaghetti ($18+).

Also under The Refectory, the neighbouring bar —BRDL—  offers alcohol where we got to try their refreshingly sweet mocktails. The presentation speaks for itself; one minimalistic and one with an edible print of a peacock. Fun fact: their name is a shortened from of the locale!

Going back to the Christmas packages, both feature wholesome meals that you can enjoy this Christmas! The Christmas packages are offered till 26 December. Takeaway orders require a 3 day notice.
