Samsung Solve for Tomorrow 2021 – students are invited to join this year’s competition and win more than $110,000 worth of prizes

Samsung’s Solve for Tomorrow competition returns to Singapore for its fifth edition. With the goal of sparking innovative ideas among students in Singapore, the competition encourages conceptualising inclusive and innovative solutions that address key challenges in the communities and positively impact society.

Samsung’s Solve for Tomorrow is also a platform for youths to crystalise their societal concerns, express their desire for a change, and execute their vision for a better future.

Furthermore, Samsung seeks to encourage youths to tap on this opportunity to develop and enhance soft skills critical for the future workplace, including communications, collaboration, critical thinking and creativity.

There are 4 themes for this year’s Solve for Tomorrow competition:

Environmental Sustainability

Encourage youth to develop bold solutions to address our most pressing environmental issues and build a sustainable future.

Digital Inclusion for Seniors

Inspire participants to explore innovative solutions to strengthen the silver generation’s digital literacy and access to technology.

Health & Wellness

Spur youths to propose creative solutions that can enable Singaporeans to improve their physical and mental wellbeing to lead healthier, more balanced lifestyles.

Preparing for the Future of Work

Galvanise participants to think about refreshing digital solutions that help youths acquire relevant skills and industry experiences and prepare them for the future workplace.

Each theme addresses different issues that youths are concerned about and will serve as a guidepost for participants to develop their ideas and solutions.

The competition registration window will begin today and close on 7 November 2021. Interested students can participate in the competition by forming groups of two to four and submit their ideas or solutions here.

There are two categories for Solve for Tomorrow 2021:

  • Post-Secondary Level: Full-time students aged 16 years old and above, enrolled in either a Junior College, Polytechnic, Institute of Technical Education, and the Millennia Institute in Singapore

    • Singapore Management University (SMU)

A total of 20 teams (10 teams from each category) will be shortlisted. Each team will receive $800 in cash and training opportunities to help them refine their ideas and enhance their presentation through development courses or workshops.

Out of these 20 teams, 10 teams (five from each category) will be selected to present in the finale event in December 2021 against a panel of judges. The top three teams from each category will be awarded:
