With dining restrictions in Singapore tightened to just two people for dine-in at restaurants, perhaps it is time to revisit delivery options for your next celebratory meal with your family or close friends.
For seafood lovers, Lobstar.sg is one such delightful option for premium seafood, delivered to your home. Known for their Seafood in a Bags, dig into succulent lobsters, South African abalones, Yabbies and more, accompanied with a variety of savoury, sweet and spicy sauces to cater to all taste buds.
Eating seafood can get messy, which is why some people would choose to dine out so as not to have to clean up the mess after the meal. Lobstar is keenly aware of this and the delivery comes equipped with all the necessary stuff for an enjoyable, messy, but delicious seafood meal with minimal cleaning up needed.
Waxed paper mats are provided for you to pour all your seafood onto the dining table. Once you are done with your meal, simple wrap everything up to throw – no need for any washing of cutlery and utensils. Aprons, wet wipes and thick serviettes are provided too.
We tried two of their signatures – Lobstar Superstar Bag (S$69) and Shellabration Bag (S$66). Each bag can serve two to three people and are served up in a sauce and with carb options of your choice.
The Lobstar Superstar Bag comes with rock lobsters, Asari clams, mussels, jumbo prawn, broccoli and corn. We tried it with the chili crab sauce.
The Shellabration Bag comes with South African abalones, Canadian scallops, Asari clams, green mussels, jumbo prawns, broccoli and corn. We tried it with the creamy salted egg butter sauce.
For the carbs, there are four choices – Angel Hair Pasta, Garlic Fried Rice, White Rice or Crystal Vermicelli.
Other than their Seafood in a Bag, Lobstar also serves a mix of different seafood salads and appertisers to complement a hearty seafood meal. You can order Fried Mini Mantou (S$4) for six, Crispy Lotus with Salted Egg (S$10), Shicimi Fried Noodle Fish (S$9), among a slew of other interesting sides.
We tried the Lobstar Signature Salad (S$19), featuring fresh salad greens and lobster meat with crunchy ice plant, almond flaks, cherry tomatoes, sweet corn and mango, drizzled in black truffle sesame sauce and the Crabby Salad (S$18), featuring fresh water mini Japanese crabs, ice plant, almond flakes, cherry tomatoes, sweet corn and mango, drizzled in black truffle sesame sauce.
Verdict?
The seafood were fresh and the sauces, flavourful. The sides were amazingly good, especially the two salads which were refreshingly different from the usual. More importantly, the dining experience was messy, but fun and makes for a great platform for interaction.
