As part of Capitol Singapore and CHIJMES’ upcoming Christmas campaign titled “Discover the Nutcracker and the Whimsical Realms of Christmas”, Capitol Theatre will be running a series of performing arts workshops collectively known as “School Holiday Performing Arts Workshops at Capitol Theatre”.
Set in the historic and elegant Capitol Theatre, more than 40 workshops will be conducted by professional trainers from some of the best-in-class performing arts schools in Singapore. With a different lineup of programmes each week targeted at people of all ages, there will be something for everyone to enjoy.

Nutcracker in a Nutshell is a demystifying drama experience targeted at primary school children. Adapted from E.T.A Hoffman’s “The Nutcracker and the Mouse King” and Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky’s ballet ‘The Nutcracker’, this programme makes the complex ballet more fun through role play. Students will be taught acting techniques, audition skills, characterisation, staging, and stage combat, and gain experience performing on a professional theatre stage.

Set to the theme of The Nutcracker ballet, this 2-day masterclass comprises of daily ballet technique and ballet variation classes led by former Singapore Dance Theatre artist, Toru Okada, as well as contemporary dance classes led by Frontier Danceland artist, Ma Yue Ru.
