Beast & Butterflies at M Social is now open for dine-in, menu includes unique 3 Cup Lobsters in Claypot

As Singapore gradually moves into our recovery phase after the Circuit Breaker, many restaurants are now back in business. Diners can out head out for a shared meal in a group of no more than five people and with the necessary safe distancing and hygiene measures like mask wearing and hand sanitising in place.

Over at Robertson Quay, while you still can’t go on a pub crawl, you can dine-in at a restaurant with friends and knock back a drink or two. At M Social hotel for instance, their in-house fusion restaurant, Beast & Butterflies has reopened its door for dine-in.

The restaurant is SG Clean certified and has taken various additional precautionary measures like safe distancing, having sanitisers readily available and a QR code e-menu as part of their Covid-19 preventive efforts to maintain a safe environment for diners.

Beast & Butterflies restaurant serves up fusion dishes that meld influences from East and West, showcasing what is sometimes termed as “Mod-Sin” (modern Singaporean) cuisine.

With Chef Bryce Li helming the kitchen, the restaurant has made a few new additions to their menu post-Circuit-Breaker, including an interesting 3 Cup Lobsters in Claypot dish which warmed the cockles of my heart.

An alcoholic drink with a 2D print, taken on-the-spot, for novelty

We particularly enjoyed the 3 Cup Lobsters in Claypot dish, an East-meets-West fusion version of the traditional Sanbeiji (三杯鸡) or 3 Cup Chicken, one of the most iconic dishes of Jiangxi cuisine. Just like the original chicken version, you can smell the aroma immediately when the dish is served up in a sizzling hot claypot with a cup each of soy sauce, sesame oil, and sugar, with added ginger, garlic, and basil.

The other noteworthy dishes are their Cold Cuts & Cheese Board which is available in both 1 metre or half a metre and the Thai Milk Tea Pudding for their sheer Insta-worthiness. Just look at how chio the dishes are presented! For those who like to feast with your eyes, the open bar at Beasts & Butterflies also offers 2D print on their alcoholic drinks with photos taken on-the-spot.This is great for impressing a date.

One of the best things about Beasts & Butterflies is its waterfront location at Robertson Quay. After a hearty meal, you can then head out for a casual stroll by the quay to burn off some of the calories.
