‘Guardians of the Galaxy 3’ to be the final movie with the current team

James Gunn, the Director of Marvel Cinematic Universe’s ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ movies has confirmed that the upcoming third movie will wrap up GotG as we know it. It will probably be the last GotG movie that he directs, he said, as well as the last GotG movie starring the current team that we have come to know and love through the years. This lineup includes Star-Lord, Rocket Raccoon, Groot, Drax, Mantis, and Nebula.

Gunn recently hosted a spontaneous Q&A on Instagram, where he said that if a fourth instalment were to come out, it would be with a new director at the helm and with a whole new roster of characters from the Marvel universe.

Gunn has already mentioned this before, though. He had previously shared that he really intended to make a trilogy for ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ if the first one proved to be a success. This may mean that he really only prepared a narrative arc for three films without any desire to helm any more.

If you’re wondering what we can look forward to in the upcoming ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3’ movie, you should know that production hasn’t started yet and there is no official release date, either. Actress Karen Gillan, who plays the role of Nebula in the movies, has said that it is the best one out of the trilogy, though; so it is definitely something to look forward to.

It has also been mentioned before that we can expect to learn more about Rocket Raccoon’s past in the third installment. Gunn has also hinted that Mantis and Drax might just get their own spin-off after the trilogy wraps up.

Are you excited to watch the third installment of ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’? Who’s your favourite character in the movies?
