If there’s one thing many parents were grateful for during the Covid-19 circuit breaker period, it’s owning a Nintendo Switch. With kids stuck at home most of the time, providing a source of entertainment is a great way to keep them busy – and quiet. (Just make sure they play in moderation, of course.)
What you might not know is that a Nintendo Switch can be a great avenue for you to bond with your kids, too. If you still don’t feel safe enough to venture out after the commencement of Phase 2 on Friday (June 19), you can continue gaming in the safety of home. Here are our top picks.
Bubble Bobble 4 Friends
The much-loved game of the 80s gets an upgrade on the Nintendo Switch. Play with up to three players in co-op mode through 100 levels. It might look easy, but you’ll be surprised by how challenging it can get the further you make it in. The best part is that the original arcade game is included, too, so you can relive your childhood days when the kids are asleep.
Clubhouse Games
If there’s one game that you should definitely get on the Nintendo Switch, it’s Clubhouse Games. This game includes 51 tabletop games from all over the world, so you can discover a ton of new games with your kids. Each game has instructions, so you can learn them together, as well as trivia tidbits to keep things extra fun!
Just Dance 2020
Being stuck at home doesn’t mean you have to laze around all day. Get moving and stay fit in the most fun way possible: by dancing! You don’t even have to be a great dancer for this. In fact, being bad at it is half the fun. With more than 500 songs to choose from, there is definitely something for the whole family to enjoy!
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
You probably remember playing Mario Kart back in the day. Even if you haven’t, though, you are sure to enjoy racing with your kids. Choose from your favourite Mario characters and race and attack each other while racing. It’s competitive, but very fun!
Mario Tennis Aces
Sports games are always fun. If you’re tired of FIFA or NBA 2K, or if you have younger kids who can’t grasp the controls for those games yet; ‘Mario Tennis Aces’ is a fun one to play. Battle it out with one another and enjoy a variety of boss battles and missions while you’re at it.
Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order
If you have a family of Marvel fans, this is a game you shouldn’t miss. All of your favourite Marvel characters are in this game and you can team up (up to four players) on one system. It’s awesome!
Minecraft Dungeons
If your kids love Minecraft, then you can join them in their fandom through this action-adventure game. Battle together through various levels filled with action and treasure to save villages and take down the evil Arch-Illager.
Overcooked 2
‘Overcooked 2’ is one of the most talked about games right now. Epic Games released the game for free on PC recently; but there’s a Nintendo Switch version, too – and it will really test your patience. This competitive and challenging game is sure to make your entire family scream as you battle it out together or against each other.
Snipperclips
Partner up with your kid to cut out heroes into the correct shapes, interact with different objects, and solve fun puzzles. There are various challenges here, too, so you are sure to find tons of ways to keep yourselves busy with one game.
Super Mario Party
Super Mario Party is a board game played on the Nintendo Switch where you can freely walk around, choose where to go, and try to win the most stars in mini-games. If your kids find regular board games boring, this digital version might just strike their fancy.
Super Smash Bros Ultimate
If you’re up for some action, ‘Super Smash Bros Ultimate’ is the game for you. The best part about this game is not just battling each other and smashing each other off of the stage; it’s the fact that all of the characters in the game are well-loved Nintendo characters that you all know and will learn to love even more.
